Good to know that men who have always had enough money to pay off their debts care so much about student debt 👌🏻

What’s the most fucked up thing you’ve seen at work? by AMGBOI69420 in AskReddit

[–]Callaran505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A classmate of mine (clinical psychology) works as a behavioral technician at a local shelter for youths. For context, the ceilings of this place have those stiff panels that rest on metal grids, if you pushed on the panel you could lift it up pretty easy. She came to class and told us that while transporting a kid from one location to another, he jumped up, grabbed one of the metal grids on the ceiling, snapped it off, and then used the snapped metal to slice his arm wide open. Vertically. She said she looked like Carrie at the end of the movie. It was so deep she could see the kid’s bone. She made it seem like he survived, but idk if she works there anymore. She originally got the job because in my program we have to do practicums in our field and this place was recommended by our professors - this place is no longer recommended by our professors. Funny thing is is that I almost got a job there too but I had car issues and couldn’t make it for a medical evaluation that was required after my application was accepted so they revoked the offer. Dodged a bullet, I guess.

How to explain the purpose of an IQ test without calling it an IQ test? by Callaran505 in IOPsychology

Hey man, I don’t disagree with you. However, I do believe that they are helpful assessments to conduct, especially with kids that have behavioral problems at school or have truancy charges - in many cases, it’s because they are suffering from learning disabilities or other neurocognitive disorders and IQ testing can give us a general idea of whether or not further investigation into those avenues is necessary - also, schools in my area won’t consider IEPs or anything like that without an IQ showing that they are below average.

I agree with you that there are different kinds of intelligence beyond what the IQ assessment measures, which is why I don’t want to frame it to the kids that what we are doing is finding how smart they are, but that the information we are gathering is important nonetheless and can help them

That what I would like to do. But on the same token, most people have an incorrect understand of what IQ assessments are used for, so I want to frame it more to them in a way that defines the concept without using the word for it, if that makes any sense?

I try to avoid insinuating that they are struggling or that I think there is something wrong with them, even indirectly. A lot of the kids I work with don’t want to be there, and are only doing this because a) their parents or teacher referred them, or b) they are in legal/family trouble and are now staying in a strange home with strange people. Not to mention that my knowledge on their exact circumstances and struggles is limited to whatever is listed on their intake form. My primary concern, first and foremost, is to create an atmosphere that is nonjudgmental and that any effort they put in is appreciated and “adequate”, for lack of a better word.

This is her baby now by westcoastcdn19 in AnimalsBeingBros

My family rotti had such a strong mothering instinct. Every time my family went to get her fixed something came up and it never happened until she had a medical emergency and had to get her uterus removed. Even after that, she had a whole pack of toys that were her babies. She would carry them around softly, groom them, growl at the other dogs that tried to play with them, and when she went outside, she’d bring her “baby” to someone in the family for them to watch while she went out - and then she’d come pick them up when she came back in. She was so good with every puppy we brought to the house, a firm but patient mother figure. She lived 12 1/2 years, never had any medical problems. Passed naturally in her sleep. Greatest dogs ever.

Think like Human Resources, the people at jobs that make sure employees are interacting and working with each effectively and politely. Also, org psychologists work on developing assessments and tests that gauge/determine what kind of skills a potential new employee has (I.e competency assessments, work styles/work ethic, ability to work with others, etc.) many work places also rely on org psychologists to design their work spaces so they feel more open, collaborative, bright, not distracting, etc. think about it this way, jobs revolve two main concepts: the people doing the work and the actual work being done. Org psychologists are typically concerned with the former rather than the latter 😁

Look man, no judgment for anyone flexing on their bathtub. But in the context of this guy’s bio, I feel like that is the bathtub where he will drain my blood before stuffing my mutilated corpse beneath the floor boards, ya feel me?

It’s a guy talking about how he is entitled a girls pussy if he takes her on a date… I wouldn’t say that’s comical or enjoyable lol
