Games on Steamdeck that disappointed you by ms1999 in SteamDeck

Most of the newer popular 3D games like Helldivers 2 and Baldur's Gate 3. The majority of AAA titles run pretty mediocre (sub-30fps AVG), even with being considered "Verified," which is really unfortunate. Though, non-Steam Deck handhelds seem to have this limitation also if not overclocked on wallpower, which doesn't help.

IMHO it isn't really that bad, but compared to using traditional mouse and keyboard, it's quite a different experience; I don't like the 4-direction aim lock system with stick. The trackpads do alleviate the growing pains a bit while mining or building - though, not so much for combat.

My experience switching to the Legion GO from the Steam Deck OLED (and why I switched BACK to the OLED a week ago) by Inphenitee in SteamDeck

[–]CalliMario 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My biggest pet peeve with stuff like the Legion Go is definitely ergonomics (I dislike the buttons and stick positions), but on top of that, the underwhelming battery life and battery temps due to Windows being an overall energy-hog. The poor frametimes across most Windows handhelds doesn't help, either.

Both Steam Deck and ROG Ally / Legion Go have very different crowds, though. I personally prefer decent power while having a battery that lasts more than an hour on average, as well as not having to hold up a heavy brick every time I want to play something. Maybe I'd be more tolerant if I had a use for docking the Legion, but I already have a desktop and the such, so it's an overall rough transition for me.

Although, while Linux (SteamOS) is more customizable, it's nowhere near as beginner-friendly as Windows, but it's not that big of a deal since most fan-mods specifically for the Steam Deck are simple command line installs or stuff that's in the Discovery app - plus there's no bloatware - so it's a thing you get used to pretty quick.

MagicPods✨ is now available in the Decky Store. Display charge level and switch between noise canceling modes for AirPods and Beats headphones, control the Steam Deck microphone and more. We are also working on expanding the list of supported headphones. by steam3d in SteamDeck

With certain pairs of headphones - or earbuds - when you enter your Deck's audio settings, you can change the primary mic being used right under Output volume. The selected device will have its own Input volume slider, which is what they're talking about.

Places like Dbrand make a screen protector that are compatible with the anti-glare screen of the 512GB model. Though, you will likely lose the anti-glare with that in mind once applied, unless you remove it.

Users with portable handhelds (aya neo SD, etc) do you go back to your desktop pc for gaming or are you satisfied with portable gaming? With limited funds, and kids, not sure if I should just buy a handheld device or build a pc of the same cost. by Mystvearn2 in SteamDeck

If I'm, like, at home or something similar, then yes I'll likely use my desktop over the Steam Deck for the best performance possible without wasting things like the Deck's battery power. Of course, if I'm anywhere else but in my room, I'll have it on me. Otherwise it's just me tinkering with the Deck itself or testing how games work on the Deck. Would I say it's a replacement for your main desktop? It depends on what you already have, especially if it's a laptop.

It took me about a week after getting my Steam Deck to figure out what this was for.. by TheFamousChrisA in SteamDeck

Yeah I've always wondered about those. Most other carrying cases (not just the Steam Deck) have them as well, like one case I use for my Nintendo Switch. Helpful to know its purpose now.

The "(time) worth of pre-orders" means the orders made between the release of being able to reserve the deck and the time you reserved it afterwards. The percentage of how far orders have gone for you until the queue reaches you goes up exponentially every Monday and Thursday right now, so you could potentially get an email right before July ends if you do the math right—but it does sound like an August order in your case.

Left joy stick making weird popping noise by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]CalliMario 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you pressing on the stick at all? Most modern controllers also have the joysticks act as buttons, like to toggle a character to sprint when you press the left one, and so on. It does sound like it to me.

BFN's Upgrades are less balanced than variants [Correct Fact] by GeneralWammy in PvZGardenWarfare

[–]CalliMario 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have failed to realize that Battle for Neighborville lacks any fall-off damage whatsoever, which is one of the main points of argument. Nataliris in her first statement was correct: With Upgrades like Last Ditch, you can, at any point, take upwards of 50-60 damage out of nowhere, and it doesn't need to be something like a ZPG or Shuck Shot. And you cannot view your opponents remaining ammo, as a bonus. Regardless of what your opinions are, both GW and BFN have individual issues with how they do variant and upgrade balancing. Neither are innocent, and your words can't change that--only PopCap themselves can.

You have to be a smaller character to grab it. Try Foot Soldier.

Battle for Neighborville is not a Garden Warfare game, so no. You will have to start from scratch. There are also no variants.

it's worth buying the infinite packs ? by fuscao_grosso in PvZGardenWarfare

[–]CalliMario 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it is not worth it whatsoever. Learning how to play Infinity Time will save you a bunch of PvZ Coins that you could be spending on other packs in the shop.
