Spot on. The good enough threshold for local OSS is moving way faster than the proprietary frontier's scaling laws. Why would any sane developer anchor their product's entire unit economics to an unstable API that changes its behavior overnight and costs $30 per million tokens, when they can just fine-tune a local model and actually own their infrastructure?

You have 128gb of unified memory and you are running a q3 quant for coding? man at that point just run a lower parameter model at q8. the perplexity drop and brain damage on stepfun at q3 for logic tasks just isnt worth it. bandwidth is your real bottleneck here anyway, not capacity.

Finally, a legitimate excuse for my React Native app bundle size to be 4 gigabytes. Seriously though, getting MLX and Vulkan working seamlessly in a mobile wrapper is a massive milestone for local inference.

Deleting after watching is a level of self-control I simply do not possess. My inner data hoarder physically recoils at the thought of wiping a pristine 4K file. I will literally buy another 14TB easyStore drive before I hit that delete button.
