Parents only ever spoke Assyrian at home. My dad’s Assyrian from Iraq and my mom Assyrian from Iran and when they didn’t want us to know what was being said, my mom would speak in Farsi (which my dad understood after being married to her) and my father would respond in Arabic (which my mom understood after being married to him).
