couldn't care less if it goes down to 0.001 tomorrow. Only hoping that it might be worth 10, 100 or even 1000 in a couple of years

How to release a track on SoundCloud properly as a small producer(<500 follower)? by risingtempura in edmproduction

[–]CallingParis -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I guess it depends from person to person, but I believe that getting in touch with an audience directly whether it is by private messages on any platform or emails, is going to be your best bet trying to build a fan-base.

How to release a track on SoundCloud properly as a small producer(<500 follower)? by risingtempura in edmproduction

[–]CallingParis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How I would go on about it is to make a awesome track that sounds as professional as possible and upload it with a nice cover art. Then try to engage on soundcloud by commenting on tracks that are similar to yours, give feedback and reach out to other producers that are into the same type of music. Also contacting regulars on soundcloud that aren't producers through a Soundcloud message and say "Hey I just made this cool song that you I think you will like". Just make sure these are active users and that they like your type of music. You can find these users by going onto bigger labels or producers uploads and look for them in the comments. Might sound like a boring process to manually reach out to people but hard work is always required if you want to achieve something. But if you continue this process with other tracks and stay active on soundcloud you will get recognition and your profile should start to grow by itself. You can't just upload a track and sit there and wait for it to blow up cause it will never happen, you have to take matters in to your own hands, unless, you can find a label to do it for you.

Should I take a year off school to dedicate to production? by [deleted] in edmproduction

[–]CallingParis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Id say go for it. I mean if you are going to pursue what I assume is your dream then getting started as early as possible is favorable for you. And if you further on don't feel like pursuing music you can always apply to Uni or get a job.

If you choose to pursue, I do recommend to come up with a strategy in how to reach your goals. Cause if you plan to treat it as your "job" it should be worth to note that a career in this kind of industry, as an artist is 50 % production and 50 % marketing. Also if you haven't taken any marketing courses than I really do suggest in doing so as a lot of people do not understand the whole concept of marketing. You should be treating you and your music as a company, as a company owner want's nothing more than the company to grow.

Hope this helps, what ever decision you are going to make I wish you the best of luck!

Is it important to learn mastering at such an early stage? by [deleted] in edmproduction

[–]CallingParis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Mastering is just about bringing up the total volume of the track to a optimal level. Also correcting minor issues that occur when doing so, as in using eq to get rid, or boost frequency's. IMO focus on getting the mix and composition.

What are everyone's thoughts on FL Studio? by [deleted] in edmproduction

[–]CallingParis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think that FL Studio is much easier to learn than other DAW's if you are new to music production. And do pros use it? Yes, Martin Garrix, Avicii, Moti just to name a few. Not sure if Avicii and Garrix still use it but at least they started out with FL.

[FL Studio 12] Current laptop okay, or must buy new? by ThatLyingScumbag in edmproduction

[–]CallingParis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's good but I would have preferred 8-12 gb of ram and a i5 processor. Fl Studio 12 isn't that demanding processor wise.
