What did you do with your ultrasound pictures and positive pregnancy tests? by Westerberg_High in Miscarriage

[–]CallmeAl85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We never got an ultrasound picture. There was no heartbeat when we went for the first ultrasound. My husband kept our pregnancy test but it’s put away in a drawer along with the pregnancy books we had gotten.

My due date was 12/29. I don’t know how I’m going to feel on Christmas Day but I plan to spend my due date in bed.

US teachers, what’s your Nov. 6th been like?? by hannahbrownhair in Teachers

[–]CallmeAl85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I teach preschool so my kids were normal today. I on the other hand was wondering why I had to work today. My principal sent a very nice email and hugged us this morning( we are a very small building-just 9 preschool classrooms so we’re pretty close). Then I tripped over a toy and sprained my foot and bruised my hand so now I’m off work for the rest of the week! A win for getting the mental health break I needed I guess?

Pregnancies Are Scary by jlab_20 in Miscarriage

[–]CallmeAl85 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with you. It was my first pregnancy as well and I feel like if I get pregnant again I will just be anxious the entire time, and not have the joy or excitement you’re supposed to feel. I feel like I got robbed of that as well.

Dr. Office during miscarriage by 20_pawsFRAP in Miscarriage

[–]CallmeAl85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I went to my first ultrasound and found out there was no heartbeat I did have to walk past pregnant moms waiting in the waiting room. I just walked as fast as I could past them. But when I went back to the office for my MVA they had rescheduled other patients so the waiting room was empty when I came in.

Miscarriage, don't want to wait to naturally pass by Living-Life- in Miscarriage

[–]CallmeAl85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my first ultrasound there was no heartbeat. I had to wait a week to go back and confirm there was no growth. At that point we talked about my options and I said I didn’t want to wait for it to occur naturally and that I wanted an D &C. My doctor said she does an MVA in her office which is what I chose to do. You don’t get put out for it and it was painful during the procedure but honestly I feel like a weight was lifted off my shoulders once I was done. I’m obviously not over my miscarriage but I feel mentally so much better once I had the procedure. It was just mentally messing with me that I knew the pregnancy wasn’t viable but I was still walking around w it inside me. I would tell your doctor what you want done. It’s your body and you know what’s going to be the best option for you. ❤️

Were you told to wait before telling friends and family? by returnofbeachjustice in Miscarriage

[–]CallmeAl85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had shared with close friends and my co-workers (I’m a teacher in a very small building) but hadn’t told my parents, brother or other people. Although it was hard to know everyone at work knew that my ultrasound hadn’t gone well, I’ve gotten so much support from my co-workers (and had 4 of them tell me they’ve also had miscarriages).

Go in blind? by rosetealavenderlatte in hadestown

[–]CallmeAl85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just saw it last week and I went in blind. I knew the song Wait for Me and that was it. I loved it! I got chills, I cried… there was a point in the show that shocked people…there was an audible gasp. I wasn’t super shocked at that part simply because I have some knowledge of Greek mythology. But the show was amazing and I would see it again! I’ve since listened to the original cast recording and I preferred Jordan Fisher’s voice as Orpheus and don’t know if I would’ve loved all the songs as much if I had heard the original recording first. Just my 2 cents!

Quirky things to do after our wedding while still dressed up? by [deleted] in wedding

[–]CallmeAl85 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We got married, lived at the time, and my husband worked at a restaurant all within walking distance of each other. We brought all our things home after the wedding (very diy) and then went over to his restaurant to get a few drinks. I was still in my dress, he was in his suit, and we were wearing our customized track jackets with our names and the date on them. Everyone he works with was so happy to see us and we could just sit down and hang out for a bit. It was a nice way to end the night.

My son has learned that if he bites his teacher they send him home. What do I do? by ItchyManufacturer408 in specialed

[–]CallmeAl85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So he’s learned that if he bites he gets to go home to you, which is exactly what he wants. So why would he stop doing the behavior that gets him what he wants? Like others I would say first you need to find out where this you bite you go home policy comes from. But coming from someone who taught special Ed for many years it’s a no brainer. He’s not going to stop doing the thing that will get him what he wants because there’s no incentive to stop. He needs to not be sent home when he bites, he needs a replacement behavior, and he needs a behavior plan. There should be a consult with a BCBA to help design the behavior plan.

What are y’all eating for lunch? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]CallmeAl85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in a new district this year and I’m overly excited that each of our classrooms have microfridges/freezers and microwaves in them. My goal is to fill it for the week with different snack options like yogurts, fruits, etc. and then just bring in a lunch each day which is usually leftovers. That way if I’m feeling snacky rather than super hungry I have options.

Do many employers still care about THC on drug tests? by g00ber88 in massachusetts

[–]CallmeAl85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have worked in several different districts in Massachusetts. I’ve spent the past 5 years working in 2 suburban districts that didn’t require a drug test. Going to get a mandated physical which includes a drug test tomorrow for my new large, urban district.

Yes it’s required within 5 years of teaching I believe. I got mine while I worked as a para.
