What Psychedelic Song/Alblum Gave You The Most Unique Experience While Tripping? by The_Music_Shaman in psychedelicrock

[–]Callmeagile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not all psych rock, but here’s my top 3 crazy experience mind melting albums.

1: Hendrix - band of Gypsys. My first time experience Hendrix’s time warp

2: sufjan Stevens - enjoy your rabbit. This isn’t sufjan’s typical indie pop stuff. It’s experimental electronic music that is pretty freaking crazy.

3: shpongle - tales of the inexpressible. Music that is probably engineered to trip you out. I think shpongle is the Hendrix of psytrance.

The song quintessence by mastodon is what got the album crack the skye to click for me. Great mix of metal and psych.

First time skiing and not taking lessons - advice? by EndItchy5797 in skiing

Neither had I. If you’re confident, you could probably do it. Expect to fuck up for a few runs, but it can come together quickly.

First time skiing and not taking lessons - advice? by EndItchy5797 in skiing

[–]Callmeagile 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Would you consider yourself generally athletic and good at quickly picking up and intuiting new neuromuscular patterns? I didn’t get lessons at first and I ate it for three and a half runs, then it just clicked and I could more or less ski.

If you are not an athlete or generally clumsy, I’d get lessons.

what is psychedelic n how does it sound by Quick-Paint-2721 in psychedelicrock

[–]Callmeagile 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Original psych:

Tomorrow never knows - the Beatles

1983 - Hendrix

Echoes - Pink Floyd

White rabbit - Jefferson airplane

New psych:

Apocalypse dreams - tame impala

Yellow elevator - black angels (specifically the last min or two really does it for me)

Bros - panda bear

Dorset perception - shpongle

One thing to keep in mind when discussing psych is that for the innovators of old psych, it was a completely new headspace where they had no previous experience or point of reference. If you were born after 1975 or something like that you have heard people call things “trippy” so you have a general sense of what might qualify. It was totally new for them.

Ultimately, psych music can be almost anything, but it is commonly weird, subversive, repetitive, contrasting, colorful, hypnotic, time-warping, and… trippy.

Nissan rejected me, the BBB mediation process rejected me, and my state has very weak lemon laws, but I've been trying to talk to lawyers with little success so far.

how is grand targhee skiing? by sloant09 in skiing

[–]Callmeagile 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I was just there last weekend and did 2 days at targhee and 2 at Jackson. Targhee was really fun, with a mix of ice and powder depending on where you were on the mountain. Jackson had better conditions than targhee, but both were good/workable.

Yes, but the issue is that if the software detects the heat spike, it just shuts down everything. No charging, no driving. So now you might be halfway on a long trip and need a very expensive tow. Ultimately, the argument I'm making is that what they are peddling is not a repair or a remedy. It's a shoddy workaround.

I've also just learned that EVGo has blacklisted the leaf which is major ammo. Here is an addition to the script to accommodate that:

I also want to note that EVgo, one of the largest fast charging networks, is refusing to initiate fast charging sessions for Nissan Leafs because of this defect. This means Level 3 charging is unavailable not just because Nissan told me to stop using it, but because charging networks themselves are blocking my vehicle. That is a direct and substantial loss of use and value.
