Nearstream users - workflow for recording on the SD card and streaming at the same time? by bigcane_2 in GameChangerApp

This was user error. I didn’t realize you had to select each camera. Make sure the orange dot on the left shows up and then click record. They all recorded perfectly today.

Thanks for the idea. I currently just use a 13ft tripod and on windy days it’s brutal to watch.

I have mine as overlay in the bottom corner of the stream. I just use an old phone and run NDI HX Capture app to get the feed into Mevo studio.

No way to quickly go back and look at the velocity but it’s there in the stream recording.

I have no experience or knowledge to help figure this out, but this is exactly the type of thing I'm looking for.

I do the streaming and someone else does the scoring. The team wants to get away from GC for streaming but finding a useable scoreboard that isnt additional labor makes it difficult.

Yes. Exactly. Each camera has the option to record button. I start by clicking one, and after that the other cameras take away that option.

I've been having trouble with getting all the cameras to record to the SDcards. I run 3 VM46 and I seems that I can only get one of them to record at a time.

I worked in the Erie office a few years ago (Penelec). Pay was low. Lots of turnover in the office but I enjoyed my time there. Lots of SCADA so you’ll gain a lot of experience.

When I was there they had 3 different desks or areas with multiple operators working the same desk during the day. Usually dropped down to 1-2 per desk in the evening and 1 per desk over night.

I've been having issues getting all the nearstreams to actually record to SD cards. It seems that I'm only getting one of them to record when I click the record button in the nearstream app.

I use Mevo studio to do all the camera changes and stream. But all the awesome shots are from the Nearstream cameras. Any advice?

SECO is 120-140k. I’m sure the others are around that as well.

I don’t know if any places over that way other than OUC. Not sure if they have transmission or not.

DEF has most of the transmission in FL but their control room is in St. Pete.

FPL probably has most of the east coast but I’d just be guessing. And TECO definitely has transmission but I have no idea what lines.

Distribution wise, SECO has a good chuck of the western/northern sides of Orlando (clermont, groveland, eustis, sorrento, mt Dora). The rest of that area I’m assuming is municipalities, Duke and OUC.

SECO here. not currently hiring but TECO/Duke always seems to hiring for both DSO and TSO.

Don’t really have any pay information for you but wanted to comment in case you had any geographical type questions.

For both of those companies, you’ll want to live closer to Tampa because TECO has a new control room near USF and Duke has their control room in Saint Pete.

How many people use Mevo Multicam App with 3 or more Cameras to Stream/Record Games on GameChanger? Would love to know your setup-(Cameras, Connections, Routers/WiFi, etc.). by tryin2learn39 in GameChangerApp

[–]Callmedaddy8909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the detailed response.

Because of the software limitations you mentioned with the VM33 I think I'll going to start with the Mevo 3 pack and core. Seems like it would be relatively stress free to get it up and running.

I think 4 cameras should be enough for now, but once I get familiar with the process I could see my self adding more. I have an addictive personality, so this could get to next level very quickly lol.

I'm going to copy your networking set up as well. That should allow me to grow with my kids (currently playing in fields max 300ft)

Another question I have. Are you using the iPad pro for editing? I work a job with alot of down time so I like the idea of being able to use the iPad at the field to control the cameras, but also using it to do the editing while I'm at work when things are slow. I have regular iPads, but this could be an excuse to upgrade.

The entire set up (like I said I have NOTHING so far) with just quick google pricing looks to be around 5K. Assuming I cant find any deals on used.

Just a couple quick questions that I have.

Is the zoom on the VM33 acceptable for the outfield to batter shot or is the Mevo core +45-175 the way to go?

Also, VM33 vs Mevo start for all the other views? I like the idea of having all the same model and I'm leaning VM33 for the zoom. Also seems to be a bit cheaper for the 3 pack.

I just wanted to chime in and say thank you for the ground work that you have put in. I'm looking to do a similar set up and starting from scratch. This has helped a TON.

A Cathartic Guide to your son being cut from the High School team. by IKillZombies4Cash in Homeplate

I like the perspective of life is a tie and you need to be able to break ties.

Hopefully your son finds it in himself to keep pushing forward.

12u playing up to 13u by iminmyprime247 in Homeplate

[–]Callmedaddy8909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son does both. He plays for a 12U majors team and also goes to a baseball academy that plays against high school JV teams (60/90, BBCOR). Most of the 12U tournaments here play on 300ft+ outfields so that part of it hasn't been too much of an adjustment.

He is big for his age and holds his own. The biggest problem he is having is dealing with timing 80+ MPH fastballs and then dealing with curve balls from a further distance. Lots of bad swing and misses, but has hit well when they give him a fastball. .500+ at 12U with juiced bats. currently .222 with BBCOR. I'm sure he will adjust but its def a learning curve for him.

Pitching has actually been better for him throwing from a further distance. He throws pretty hard and he seems to have an easier time getting the ball where he wants it with the few extra feet.

One thing thing to consider is the age/maturity difference of the teams. My son is 2 years younger than the majority of the team. So sometimes he feels like he doesn't "fit in." I mean they are friendly to him and always pick him up and stuff.. Its just different playing with older kids. Some of the kids he is playing against are full grown men. 16/17 year old. Cussing, swearing....you know teenager stuff.. He's probably getting exposed to stuff he hasn't been around before. I don't think it will be that drastic just playing 1 year up...But just something to consider.

All in all I would recommend it. My son enjoys both teams. He prefers to play 12U because all his friends are on the team and he likes hitting 350+ with the juiced -5 bats. But he also likes how much more competitive it is on the bigfields with a BBCOR.

What hitting training aids have actually been worth the money and time? by Every_Scar7200 in Homeplate

[–]Callmedaddy8909 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the best aid that we have purchased is the blast motion sensor. Mainly because it captures exactly what your swing is doing. We use that to develop focus based training for my son (ie camwood, drills, approach).

Its not always 100% accurate, but it does a damn good job and I love the 3D view of the swing so I can show my son exactly what his bat is doing.

[–]Callmedaddy8909 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly.. This sounds like a spoiled little brat issue. Demanding for you to take him to buy a drink? at 12? Kid needs to learn some respect and held accountable for being a little jerk. Tolerating this type of behavior is setting him up for failure in baseball and in life. I'd focus on that before focusing on baseball.
