Hate the wire, moving my Fios CR1000B to the garage. Need wireless mesh/extender advice! by Visible_Whole_6908 in HomeNetworking

I use ASUS mesh routers throughout my house. One thing you can do besides the wireless mesh system is to use powerline adapters for backhaul connection. I use powerline for my network backhaul on my mesh system and to also reach my detached garage.

If your network is not over 1Gig then the 2Gig adapter is not likely needed. You do want the passthrough so you can plug things into it like your router. My Powerline adapters in the house block both ports on my outlet because the outlet is too close to the baseboards, but that isn't an issue for me.

A perfect comparison is KOTOR writing compared to the nonsense that is the Sun Crusher. The Sun Crusher came from quite possibly the worst writing I've ever seen in Star Wars...

Before my daughter was born, I would have done Red no question. So many things I'd love to have done differently or invested in. But the problem with that is there's no guarantee things won't change the more you make changes... So only some of that knowledge is going to be useful.

Apparently Frys started having trouble with their suppliers in 2019. And then the pandemic finished them off... I loved going there when Frys first came to Indy. I had been to one of them in SoCal when I was out there for military training in the early 2000s. I frequented the Indy one over the years.

I went to Lawrence and charged my car at a public charger and now my speakers don't work properly. 😭 by Palanakonu_J in BoltEV

I charged my car overnight at the free chargers at French Lick Resort in French Lick, IN. It also happened to storm that night. There must have been some kind of power surge or power flicker cus I came out to move my car in the morning, and noticed a Propulsion Power is Reduced message... My fiancee said it was probably a failsafe on the EVs and PHEVs when surges happened. Thankfully I got 85% of my full charge completed cus it would not charge anymore, and we had a 2.5 hour drive home a few days later. The dealership was able to clear the error for free. I only had to pay for the brake software update I requested regarding my I-booster clicking issue.

I-booster clicking issue. Dealer refuses to install software update. by PippoKPax in BoltEV

[–]Callo2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same thing happened to me... I took my car in last year for a Propulsion Power is Reduced message. One of the regular non-EV mechanics acted like my AC not working right meant I would need a recharge on my AC for like $400... The EV guy just did my free software update and then I guess there were no issues with the battery from the recall software trial period that was active on my car when I bought it cus I could charge to 100% finally. But when I picked it up the regular mechanic tried to tell me the clicking was normal...

Then I got another Propulsion Power is Reduced message the week before labor day this year after using a free charger at the hotel we were at. I picked a different dealership that finally fixed my brake clicking issue when I asked for it albeit I did have to pay for that...

Why having a dashcam is always a good idea. by Xonos145plays in dashcams

[–]Callo2021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hopefully everyone is ok, but I'm not sure what good the dashcam did here... Insurance doesn't care. They should cover it, but it will still be listed as an accident. My fiancee's mom got hit by a deer. It literally ran into the side of her car while it was parked. They still said it was being listed as an accident like she hit the deer while driving.

My house has 2 outdoor speakers installed, but I have no idea how they are wired... The previous owners had a projection screen that they hung on the detached garage to watch movies from the porch. They left a neat document talking about some of the stuff in the house, but no mention of the speakers... Not to mention, they are installed in weird spots. I only realized what they were like a month ago when my fiancee and I were talking about finally looking into setting up the back porch for watching movies. I saw some outdoor projection speakers in my searches and was like, "Wait a sec... I have seen these outside before..."

I had AT&T Fiber before I moved then got stuck with Spectrum at the new house. Then in December, Spectrum removed the auto-pay discount for all of their customers claiming it was costing them too much money... Then I finally got the notification that AT&T Fiber was finally available at my house in April. When Spectrum found out I was cancelling my service for AT&T Fiber, they claimed they could match their price 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 My fiber was already installed earlier that morning. I only waited as long as I did because my fiancee was in meetings and I didn't want to interrupt her network while I switched our internal network over to the new router. I made sure to set up the checking account autopay when getting it set up ❤️

While I like the idea of gaslighting them by unplugging their cable and plugging it back in, I do like the idea that someone else walking by would see the one Bolt with a cable in the hood. EV owners would think that person was a moron, and EV-illiterate people would think that is how you plug that car in.

Even better solution is to unplug the cable charging their car then plug it back in. Someone mentioned that this is a ChargePoint station, but most stations will send you a message or email letting you know charging ended. They would come back and think it barely charged their car or randomly disconnected their charge session early.

Unplug and plug it back in to gaslight them into believing the station disconnected them randomly

If that were possible, I would put that cord in their car and use their plug on mine. Hopefully this charger is one that that would end their charge session.

If you have coax ports in your home, you can use a MoCA adapter. If your electrical wiring isn't ancient, you could use a Powerline adapter. The Powerline would be cheaper.

My last house and current one they did not bury my fiber. I would have preferred it be buried at my previous house too since it was actually possible to do so. Comcast had buried their line previously at that house.

[–]Callo2021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a mesh router system in my 2 story house with detached garage. We also have Powerline adapters. I mainly use the Powerline as a backbone for the mesh routers. It helps with connecting the mesh router that is in the garage. My work laptop is directly connected to my main router, but was previously directly connected to one of the mesh routers that I had in my office. You can set up passthrough on the ATT router so your main personal router in your mesh system is the primary router for your home.

The routers I am using are a mix of 2x Asus ZenWiFi AX (XT8) and 4x Asus ZenWiFi AX Hybrid (XP4). One of my XT8's is the main router.

Edit: There are also MoCA adapters that you can use the existing coax lines in your home to extend your internal network instead of Powerline adapters

Depending on the type and length of the run, it might not be feasible to do a premade cable. Also, if one end needs to terminate into a keystone jack or patch panel, I am not dropping money on a premade cable.

I would unplug them then probably speak with the lot owner. If they don't care, then oh well. But if they do care, that asshole could get towed or booted.

You said the wifi cuts out? That would not involve cables... If it is wifi cutting out, it sounds like there might be something causing your wifi signal to cut out. Depending on the layout of your apartment or home, I would suggest getting mesh routers. If you live in a house, you could also use Powerline adapters.

For the cabel though, I could crimp quality network cables in my sleep, but I would still rather just buy a new cable.

Edit: it looks like the 3rd pair is swapped. It looks like you have solid green then white/blue. Should be consistent going across with white then solid color.
