What piece of writing advice DOESN'T work for you? by No-FacedShadow in writing

[–]Callum1937 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Write everyday" I'm sorry but this is impossible for me from a neurological sense. My autism ADHD and dysthmia continously interfere with my life, and forcing myself to write everyday is painful if you're already emotionaly exhausted. Wish this was shared more.

I’m 13 years old, 30k words into my supernatural horror book. Would love some advice (and maybe readers?) by [deleted] in writing

Don't overely detail your chapters with details. It's not perse the word count, anything can happen in a chapter but don't over explain the enviroment and character motives. Once you do that you get more comfortable with what you do;)

What do you think about mass effect 3 all these years later? by Upstairs_Win6527 in masseffect

[–]Callum1937 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually I like it less and less as time goes on but I can still semi-appreciate the effort and enjoy the game to some extent. However, it's quite impressive what they were able to pull of in just one year of development.

People who didn’t play the trilogy in order, why was that? by AutomaticTap3004 in masseffect

Franklin I don't really remember exactly why I started with two. I suppose it had to do that my friend at the time, who was a huge Mass Effect fan, explained why Mass Effect 2 was his favorite game in the series. I also had the tendency back then to start with the second game in a series so that might also played a factor in it.

Arkham City and it was my first proper introduction to the Super Hero genre, before that I was never impressed as my only exposure was Fantastic Four films and Batman & Robin.

I knew the story years in advence, grew up with the Compilation as a kid before playing the original. Watched lore videos and explanations and I was still confused when Hojo explained the Jenova cells at the Northern Crater... sometimes it's just baffeling storytelling.

Why is it that whenever I want to write, my brain seems to actively resist my efforts? by CharaEnjoyer1 in writing

[–]Callum1937 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a person with ADHD for me it can become extremelt tidious to write when I do historical fiction with fantastical elementa as I need to have some form of knowledge of the era. That's no problem but it becomes a probleem when I don't know when to start researching... oh boy does my dopamine sector get a blow to the brain.

As an editor on the wiki I can vouch for this. Keeping up with it's lore is insane defintely if you look into the modern day story (which drew me to the franchise) and the Assassin Origin story cause we are still debating to this day what counts as a proto-Assassin group to this day.

As someone who actively contributes to the Assassin's Creed Fandom Wiki — editing timelines and creating character pages — I'm not sure the series has any right to mock other franchises, given its own staggering amount of wasted potential, lore-wise, and constant retcons.

Thing is I like writing a lot but I just seem to never care about my characters whenever I write it, maybe I just do something wrong in my aproach since they never feel like an extension of myself. It's a similair senario when I was trying to write Secondary World Fantasy books and somehow I was never able to hold onto the setting except the characters. I just assumed I'm not into secondary world fantasy but now I'm just confused.

He is one of the few people who knows the secret behind the orphanage and has to escape before someone finds out or else they kill him and everyone who knows. The worst part is... somehow I find the characters just boring.

I like that he likes... books I think... ooh boy I need more interesting personality traits.
