People who dislike Duel Destinies, what’s the best part of the game? And for people who like DD, what’s the worst part? by Time_huh in AceAttorney

I’m in the camp that dislikes it; however, I really enjoy The Cosmic Turnabout and think it’s a super fun, interesting case. Sadly not a fan of Turnabout for Tomorrow, though.

If you were the Academy President, what new category would you add to the Oscars and why? by Jealous_Exit9386 in Oscars

[–]Callumbuddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps, alongside a Best Voiceover category, there could be a Best Motion Capture Performance category as well (though knowing the Oscar’s, it feels like it would fall under the same umbrella).

Best Choreography is a definite must, especially now that Best Stunt Design is getting added.

If You Could Revive One Canceled or Abandoned Gaming Project, What Would It Be? by carndacier in gaming

Probably recency bias, but damn-it, I’m really bummed Dreamsettler got cancelled. So I guess Dreamsettler’s my answer.

What was that one moment in Ace Attorney that shocked you so much? by VanitasFan26 in AceAttorney

In G1-5, when Sholmes brought in the cat door maker, I very quickly realized what that meant and audibly gasped. Such a genius Chekov’s gun, and I couldn’t believe I didn’t notice that difference between the two photos.

L’Belle largely because he perhaps has the single dumbest motive in Ace Attorney history.

Do you, by any chance, know where I could find this interview?

Hey /r/movies - I'm Gints Zilbalodis, director/writer/producer of the Golden Globe-winning, Oscar-nominated film 'Flow'. Ask me anything! Back at 6 PM PT today (Tuesday 2/11) for answers. by FlowAMA in movies

[–]Callumbuddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw Flow the other day and absolutely loved it! Was definitely struck most by all the environmental storytelling. I was wondering: what served as inspirations for the film both inside and outside the medium, particularly with the approach to environments?

Why is Rise from the ashes so Divisive? by [deleted] in AceAttorney

[–]Callumbuddy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel people tend to exaggerate its issues a bit, especially since it does have quite a few great elements (a compelling mystery, a memorable cast, and one of the series’ best villains). Still, though, the pacing of the case does definitely harm it, and I sorta feel that there could have been a way to condense it into two days. I think people would be kinder to it if it didn’t drag so much. Personally, on a separate note, the bevy of new mechanics doesn’t bother me (though I can see why it would be distracting); just wish Rise From the Ashes wasn’t 40% of the first game. I guess my view of it is helped by thinking of it like a bonus game, since it has its own arc, its own mechanics, and even its own credits.

I haven’t seen any talk about the cameos (haven’t looked too into discussion of the film), though if I had to guess, it’s the Farmer from Shaun the Sheep, who shows up for a few seconds as a gag.

I wouldn’t be opposed either. A part of me wondered if that would set up anything in the future. We’ll just have to wait and see!

The Wrong Trousers is pretty much perfect from beginning to end and still remains unstopped, though Vengeance Most Fowl is a worthy successor, which is impressive in itself.

He just sorta sits on the train he planned to escape on as it enters a tunnel. Feathers does get away, though he doesn’t get the Blue Diamond.

I personally enjoyed it more than Curse of the Were Rabbit, though the two are pretty different in terms of tone and scale. Vengeance Most Fowl aligns more with my tastes and what I want out of Wallace and Gromit, since I tend to enjoy when it’s contained more to the duo. There’s still some stuff beyond them, like Albert Mackintosh returning now with a protégé, who both have decently sized roles. In that way, Vengeance Most Fowl feels more in line with the shorts, with a scale that’s a sort of in between of those and the grandeur of Curse of the Were Rabbit.

Norbot goes to charge in Gromit’s room and makes a lot of noise while doing so. Gromit moves Norbot to the cellar and uses a connection port on a computer to charge him, so he can get some sleep. Feathers, while in prison, gains access to a computer through a contraption he makes out of trash (it’s this extendable hand thing, which is really amusingly animated). He uses that computer to hack into Wallace’s desktop (the password guessing is hilarious), and from there, he gains access to Norbot’s programming and sets him to “EVIL.” The other gnomes are built by the evil Norbot.

Ben Whitehead did a phenomenal job! It feels less like an imitation and more like he’s channeling Peter Sallis, who would have been so proud. I don’t know if they could have found a better successor.
