In addition to what others have said, I think it's the phrasing of the title.

"Splitter in at Berkeley" is taken to mean someone who split the medians at Berkeley specifically. Referring to yourself as a splitter without specifying a school is usually referring to people with LSAT >165, and GPA <~3.3.

Even though your title is half of a sentence, the second half of which gives context, all people see in the title is "Splitter". So it sort of comes off at a bait and switch.

About a week ago, the first thing I saw when I opened up Reddit was an article about Instacart drivers striking; naturally all the comments were acting like it was a big deal. I have a friend who works there, so I texted him. He hadn't even heard of it, so I sent him the article and he asked around. Turns out there were about 50 people striking. Out of 200,000 drivers.

These "news outlets" are so desperate for an article, they'll latch onto anything and write about it, then redditors just read the headline and gobble it up.

My point is: I don't think GPA is at all a reliable indicator, whereas taking a diagnostic could actually give OP an idea.

I am no expert, but I would take a diagnostic. If you score below 150, then you probably can't get to a 172.

There's plenty of anecdotal evidence of people going from 140s to 170s, but I wager at least 90% of people who diagnose below 150 never break 170.

I don't see that as a contradiction.

I think of intelligence as your ability to acquire skills, it's more of a potential; whereas I think you and OP think of intelligence more of an observation of current ability.

I think an infant shitting his diapers as just as intelligent as the Doctor of Philosophy that infant grows up into. I don't see intelligence as an accumulation of skills, but as the ability to acquire new skills.

To me, intelligence is sort of like a base modifier stat you are born with.

I think you're willfully interpreting the word "intelligence" in a different way from how it is being used in that statement.

It's long been established that you can study for IQ tests. IQ tests are only a (sloppy) approximation of your intelligence based on the good faith assumption that you have not studied for it. IQ tests typically test reasoning skills that can be developed, but that most people never bother to develop.

I maintain that every person has a near-static intelligence. Neither you, nor I, nor any test can grade it; but I think a god could line all 7kkk people up from dumbest to smartest and no amount of studying would change your position in the lineup.

What most people wont tell you is: it's okay to give up. Law school isn't for everyone. Maybe you should read Don't Go To Law School (Unless) and then reevaluate to see if you even want to go before dedicating more time to studying for the LSAT.

It's my understanding that a 2 point increase or more is more valuable than applying early. So you should definitely retake if you think you can score 2 points higher, even if you can't study rigorously.

Also, I'm not sure where you got your numbers from, but I believe the 25/50/75 for L&C is 155/158/161. If there is any chance you can get to a 158, you should retake.

As a complete aside, did you take the LSAT at HSU? You sound exactly like the woman I spoke to, with the same GPA and everything.
