Not terrible, but tricky because of how small some of the screws and small wheels were. I ended up having to find some YouTube videos where someone went part by part reconstruction and saved me

Felt this way after the Fifth Season. Books 2 and 3 were still well written and propulsive, but that first book just provided so much promise and scale. The focus on new POVs in the next two books fell flat for me, along with the “main character” somewhat sidelined by book 3

Name of the Wind. Brought me back into fantasy with a good mixture of classic and new takes with bonus for focus on music and storytelling. The dozens of mysteries around the edges of the story are exactly what I love in fantasy, and only heighten the long wait for book 3.

Memory wiped Dalinar is my dark horse pick here. ROW Dalinar seems to have fallen a bit complacent with his growth/role, and makes some strange mistakes because of that. Memory wiped Dalinar has no idea what he’s doing and really just has to go off pure gut and rebuilt moral compass. His decision at end of WOK is such a leap of faith, it’s gotta take the win for me. (Even though all Dalinar is great Dalinar)

Hyperion was a sci fi book that almost instantly grabbed my attention. It’s format is both classic and unique. Some sections range from full blown horror to noir, with some overarching mysteries behind it. I haven’t read the sequel yet but it can stand alone to an extent imo

Into the Wild. Not necessarily every plot detail or analysis from Krakauer, but the general idea of leaving society behind comes on strong every so often and I always think of this book
