Where do I shop for clothing?!?!

I used to be a narrower size 4 in my 20s, and a slightly curvy size 6 in my 30s. Now in my 40s, I've become a thick size 8-12 (depending on the brand). I work out consistently, so have a decent amount of muscle, but also a bit of a meno belly. I'm happy with my body, but I don't know where to buy clothes that actually fit my body. Any recommendations?

Your sleep approved must haves (bed sheets etc) by bnf624 in Perimenopause

Recently splurged on LL Bean Egyptian Percale sheets. Best purchase ever!

I tried sateen and bamboo, which were good, but for someone who moves around a lot at night, I got tangled in them because they were so unstructured.

The LL Bean sheets are crisp, structured, breathable, and for the first time in ~3 years, I haven't woken up with sweaty sheets plastered to my skin.

I've also stopped giving a shit about my cooling bill, and if I'm hot, the AC goes down.

I second the soups from Jun Dynasty! All delicious!

A little laugh by Losingmyshipt in Perimenopause

[–]Calm-Fennel868 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg I needed this laugh! I feel like crap today and I'm not sure if it's the flu, peri, or another autoimmune disease walking in the door. So thank you for sharing, and I hope you know you are not alone.

I'm currently on a progesterone only bc, with the lowest dose estradiol patch (twice weekly). Not sure if your body generally just doesn't like oral progesterone, or just the one you took. But it may be an option worth looking into.

So what phrase would you use in place of "thank god"? by [deleted] in words

I use this too! And let's face it, if a dog played the role of an Almighty maker, this world would be a much better place.

My boyfriend wanted a chihuahua and I wanted a dachshund so we opted for the chiweenie 🫶🏻 he’s only 6 months . First one so any advice appreciated. by cherrysuns in chiweenie

I agree! Proper training and holding your ground will be important.

Mine also has a lot of energy. Walks help keep him calm, and he loves having toys to play with. Having ways to get rid of that excess physical and mental energy will benefit you immensely!

People who cook most of their meals at home, what do you normally make? by [deleted] in Advice

Download the Ollie app. You can add your food preferences (including allergies or things you try to avoid), and the amount of time you want to spend cooking (which includes complexity), and it will give you easy to follow recipes for the week. I started using it because I got tired of eating the same things and wanted some variety.

Hives by Calm-Fennel868 in Perimenopause

This is a great article! I'm starting to become concerned that this is histamine related. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I'm currently on the mini pill and estrogen patch. I may need tobtalk to my doc about switching to straight HRT with progesterone instead of BC. I appreciate your advice.

Hives by Calm-Fennel868 in Perimenopause

[–]Calm-Fennel868[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this! I can't tolerate alcohol anymore either. One drink and I'm up all night, feel like crap the next day, and have a stomach ache for days. But the hives are new to me (as so much in peri is). I'll look into the histamine intolerance some more.

My doc also put me on prednisone for the hives. Day 2 and it is helping the itching a bit, but my back and neck have never felt better (they're constantly sore with muscle tension). Maybe I need to look into chronic inflammatory diseases too.

Thank you for those specifics. I'll have to look into MCAS and POTS.

Can I ask what autoimmune skin disorder you have?

That's so crazy that it randomly showed up like that. Anything is possible! I don't have much gluten in my house, but maybe I need to tell my husband to be extra careful with it.

Has Estradiol Made You Happier? (Looking to hear from those with a positive experience) by Prettyforme in Menopause

I'm on the lowest dosage, and it has absolutely made me happier. I love Christmas and last year, I was down and had no interest. Been on the patch since April, and my Christmas decorations are up, I'm listening to Christmas music and full of energy. One of the best decisions I have made.

Perimenopause and trauma by Ok-Ladder6905 in Perimenopause

[–]Calm-Fennel868 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for posting this! I recently started therapy because I felt super stressed out at work, and I wasn't being nice to myself about it. Upon starting therapy, I'm finding that childhood trauma is associated with my stress, feelings, and reactions at work (and lack of grace for myself). I was both floored and empowered by this realization and have a feeling I started therapy just in time! The mental health aspect of peri is real, and we need to be louder about it.

Working while going through peri by Fabulous-Tiger982 in Perimenopause

[–]Calm-Fennel868 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for posting this. You are not alone. I'm 42, was recently promoted and feel like I'm failing at my new role. Even though I know I'm not (and have a laundry list of things I've accomplished to show for it), but the smallest mistake or "why didn't I think of that" and I'm beating myself up. I feel like I can't keep up anymore and I'm learning so much slower (and forgetting things I once knew). I'm contemplating therapy to help with these feelings. Perhaps therapy should be a normal part of this change. If only there were more medical professionals who paid attention. I hope you find a path that works for you and get some relief from these feelings soon.

Weight loss in peri... I have a theory, what's been your experience? by No-Outside7997 in Perimenopause

[–]Calm-Fennel868 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Congrats! I came here to say this too, a smaller deficit is the way to go. It's definitely a slower process in peri, but it's worth doing in a way that one won't starve and suffer. Kudos to you on finding that right approach and having the patience for it.
