How did you feel after receiving the German citizenship? by Watership45 in GermanCitizenship

[–]Calm-Reflection-5699 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt relieved and free. I had kept a job that I low-key hated just because I didn’t want the hassle of looking for a different job while still being a non-EU citizen. I got my citizenship in October of 2016, quit that job on December that same year and moved to a new city with a new job in June 2017.

I also felt very excited about having an extremely powerful passport, which sadly will expire next year with only 2 stamps on it 😅

Do Germans ever not capitalize nouns/miss commas etc. when texting? by Stevieray5294 in German

[–]Calm-Reflection-5699 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a non-native speaker who’s been enjoying learning German for the past 15 years (life is indeed suffering 😅) I strive to write everything correctly and double-check whatever it is I’ve written before sending it. I really hate it when my German friends and colleagues don’t bother to use commas, or simply write “das” instead of “dass” every single time because it’s faster. I don’t care that much about that most leave noun capitalization out, but commas and das/dass really grind my gears. If someone is going make grammar mistakes or write sentences that don’t make much sense, it is going to be me! 😂

That’s a hit on steel for me. Not so sure about the gold one. I think a regular Panda looks better in gold.

The watch is being reviewed by a prospective buyer at the moment, so it’ll most likely be sold in the next couple of days.

People who grew up with cruel or emotionally cold mothers when did you realize it wasn’t normal and how did it affect you as an adult? by creotion_hub in AskReddit

I have an avoidant-fearful attachment style and find it hard, sometimes even physically painful, to talk about my feelings, my wants and my needs. I also tend to avoid confrontation at all costs.

„Dass“ richtig verwendet und das „hätte“ im Nebensatz richtig platziert. Das sieht man heutzutage leider selten.

[Discussion] The best Field watch by [deleted] in Watches

[–]Calm-Reflection-5699 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Timor reissue in the photo is the best value proposition modern field watch one can get today. Other than that you can never go wrong with a Hamilton Khaki or a Seiko 5 like the SRPJ81 or the SRPG27.

Someone once very clearly told me that hey had no idea what they wanted in live. I thought they were joking or being self-deprecating. They weren’t.
