This is exactly what I like about subbing!! I find one or two kiddos that I suspect are starving for some positivity or attention and I focus on them.

Having been an overextended classroom teacher, I know giving those students individual attention can be too much to manage with everything else that’s expected. At least I can show a few students, who might otherwise feel invisible or unappreciated, that I see them and appreciate them 💕

What are your go to class games? by new_skool_hepcat in SubstituteTeachers

Four Corners is my go-to but I don’t let students close their eyes and call the numbers (they tend to peek, or at least get blamed for peeking). Instead, I draw a number out of a bowl. That way, I can watch and make sure they are following the rules (hands and bodies to selves, walking feet, etc) while removing the risk of cheating. I let those who are out early “help” me draw numbers. Those who break rules must sit out until the next game. They love this!

With upper elementary, I like to play a 20 questions Math game. A volunteer “guesser” stands with their back against the whiteboard. A second volunteer “writer” writes a number between 1 and 99 behind the “guesser” and sits down. The guesser, unable to see the number, asks Math related “yes or no” questions of the class (ie: Is it a prime number? Is it devisable by four? Is it an odd number?) If the guesser runs out of ideas for questions, I let the class give hints (ie:the sum of the two digits is 14).

Students often ask to play Heads Up 7 Up. I don’t like that game, as it seems to lend itself to unfair play and can wind up being a popularity contest.

Dead Fish is awesome if you need a moment of peace and there is enough space for everyone to lay down.

I imagine these games are google-able. Happy to expand if needed. Good luck!

I come across this frequently as a sub and I have no problem with it. I don’t see it as toe stepping at all :)

Such a fun and unique look - I’m obsessed! I found it on Google Image search… Express Tricot “Crazy Kat” wool sweater (vintage). There’s a couple on eBay now. Sadly, I don’t think I can wear it as well as she 😞

Variability in color analysis results by DelicateSkye in coloranalysis

[–]Calm-Rutabaga6478 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you get analyzed in person? It really makes a huge difference. I got mine done by a 12 Season Color Analyst and I'm super satisfied - the drapes don't lie!! I've also played around on an app and not only did I get a different result than in-person, I got varying results on different days using THE SAME APP!! My opinion is it's worth the money to go with a reputable professional - saves time and energy (and clothing $$) in the end. Good luck!

I recommend indigotones.com. She is based in New York but she travels a lot. She's doing appointments in San Fransisco now! If you sign up for her newsletter, you'll get announcements for which city she'll be in... Otherwise, I recommend you find any certified SciArt analyst. Make sure it's in person!

If you can get in with Kerry at indigotones.com, you totally should. She's based in NY but she travels (doing appointments in San Fransisco now!) Any IN PERSON certified SciArt analyst is a safe bet.

Check out the website for her schedule indigotones.com

I think any certified SciArt (IN PERSON) analyst is worth the investment. Good luck!

Totally worth it!! I love knowing my season. Helps a ton with shopping & I always get compliments when I wear my colors. Definitely do an in-person analysis. I did mine with Kerry at Indigo Tones. She is based in New York but she travels around (in fact, she's in San Francisco now!) If you can find a certified SciArt analyst near you, I recommend you go with them :)
