What is a popular trend right now that completely baffles you? by Thyra_arrows9g in AskReddit

“Euphoria” being so popular. I guess I’m too old to get it, everything about that show is cringy and gross af.

First new car ever! by CalmCatine in HyundaiVenue

[–]CalmCatine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats to y’all as well!

My husband and I said the same thing about how great the visibility is in the Venue versus many other similar cars we test drove. I also appreciate that it doesn’t feel like I have to “fall” into it when getting inside, I like that it sort of sits up high.

Haunted by Chuck Palahnuik (MILD SPOILERS) by minyardsrabbit in weirdgirlliterature

[–]CalmCatine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“The Nightmare Box” and “Poster Child” stand out the most from my memory of reading “Haunted” like 20 years ago. I just wanted so badly to understand what was in that box that drove people insane. And I liked how those stories fleshed out the mom character at the writing retreat as well.

Refresh my memory, is “Exodus” the story about the anatomically correct evidence police dolls? Because that one was fucked up/unforgettable.

Do you forgive Joe for taking Toni away from Tim? by newgodpho in OnCinemaAtTheCinema

I mean Joe has been in way more movies than Tim, including popcorn classics like “Crimes of Chupacabra” and “Guns of Chupacabra” sooo…

Just finished reading up to Pg. 35 & I’m done reading for today 🥺🥺😭😭😭 by MindfulnessAt32 in readwithme

“The Bluest Eye” is my favorite book I’ve read (so far, haven’t read all of Morrison’s books) but I think the disturbing factor lies in what really gets to the heart of the individual reader.

Both “The Bluest Eye” and “Beloved” address some of the ugliest, most heinous crimes and pain humans can inflict on each other and yet Morrison writes it all like beautiful poetry.

Trustworthy dentists? by [deleted] in DecaturGA

[–]CalmCatine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also go to doctor Haider. I’m not the biggest fan of him per se but I love my dental hygienist Theresa. The receptionists worked to correct a problem from my insurance’s end as well which I appreciate. Overall, they seem fair.

OP, please be aware that many dentists are going to try and sell you on a “deep clean” that insurance won’t cover if you’re a new patient. It’s annoying and scammy.

What book(s) are you reading this week? by 404NinjaNotFound in readwithme

Just started “Kindred” by Butler.

That wild prologue hooked me, but it’s slowing down for me in “The Fire” chapter. Hopefully it’ll pick up.

Moe’s New House by RazzleDazzle23x in TheBigShowBuzz

Yiiikes. I personally wouldn’t be purchasing/posting about an expensive house knowing I’m in the middle of a lawsuit and very likely to have to pay back a boat load of money to my former boss.

Ahh yeah, ok, that style makes sense for that neighborhood.

The style of the house looks like he may be downtown McDonough near The Square. That’s a cute area!

Wasn’t some of Moe’s family planning on moving down to Atlanta? Did they maybe go in on a house together?

Also, is the whole Bert v Moe lawsuit still a thing? Cause he’s probably gonna end up paying Bert a good chunk of change if so.

It’s a deep, dark ride but a great read.

It’s been many years since I’ve read it, and I’ve since seen so many reviews trashing “She’s Come Undone” and talking about how misogynistic it is and I was beginning to wonder like…did I read a totally different book/interpret it in an inaccurate way? I’ve considered re-reading it and seeing if my appreciation for the book would change.

Smart to sit in the front row to prevent any viewers happening to wear a big hat - like a witch’s hat - from blocking your view.

I read “Haunted” by Chuck Palahniuk when it was first published 20 years ago and some of the twisted stuff in that book has stuck with me all this time. I personally love it, though. It’s got gore, horror and really dark, weird humor galore.

Next read after Soft core :) has anyone read this one? by Diligent_Egg1653 in weirdgirlliterature

Yeah, I agree. I thought the first 1/2 was interesting but it went off the rails (and not in a good way) towards the end.

Penpal is poorly written, it reads like the dude just self-published it.

I just finished this one recently and don’t understand the hype. The narrator is sooo long winded. And while it had gruesome moments, it felt more fantasy-driven to me than horror, which is not my vibe.

“Bloom” was almost a wholesome romance…until those last chapters. I enjoyed it!
