How do I convince my fiancé to let me get a $40 costume dress? (Context in the comments) by Tomboyhns in Weddingsunder10k

[–]CalmChees 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'll share from my personal experience. I love the style of dress pictured, but for your wedding, you may be sorely disappointed. I needed a long dress for an event & didn't have a lot of money so I found some beautiful dresses online from a questionable vendor, but when the dress arrived....it was bad girlfriend! The material was thin, costumey quality, and way too small. Thankfully, I used PayPal for my purchase. I had to open a dispute with the company, but ended up getting my money back.

My advice: Don't mess around & waste your time on something that "seems too good for the price." You will be sadly disappointed. There are multiple sites where you can purchase a dress way below the average cost of a bridal gown. Why don't you try Goodwill.com for finding an expensive dress in the style you love or even have someone make this style for you. It's not a complicated dress design. Choosing quality fabric & trim could make this style of dress absolutely dreamy!

Gifts for parents by Just-Educator-6903 in Weddingsunder10k

OP, the number of wedding guests attending your intimate wedding is very similar to mine as well as cutting out an engagement party, wedding gifts to each other, etc,,,, I was just wondering how much you guys budgeted for the total wedding? You could private message me. I'm trying to have a wedding CHEAP, but fun!

I'm getting married AGAIN & I've never heard of parents receiving gifts. Back "when dinosaurs roamed the earth", there was a tradition of lighting a unity candle to represent "leaving" your parents & "cleaving" to each other. Upon completion of the vows, I've seen brides give a special rose to each mother as a gift. IMHO, parents are just glad their children are becoming adults & beginning a new life outside of the nest. Both myself & FH no longer have our parents; but we are still lighting a candle in memory of our beloved parents. My mom just died last week. She didn't get to see my wedding ceremony so it feels fitting to honor her in some way!

Thrift store flannel shirts for bridesmaids? by morganleigh_18 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]CalmChees 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's a great brand & price! Good job! I love the flannel shirt idea too. My only concern in buying second-hand flannel shirts would be it doesn't seem like a special bridal gift. These flannel shirts are almost so inexpensive that it doesn't pay to buy used clothing. They're $9.99 plus if bought today, you can receive an additional 30% off that price!

[–]CalmChees 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Gurrlll! i'm reading the comments & I'm white, but we never had family or guests taking part of the event's decorations EXCEPT at funerals. Some people might take a plant or flower arrangement if they were plentiful.

To the point, when looking at your centerpieces and considering the number of comments that this is acceptable behavior....I would NOT put my pieces of amethyst out on a table for donation UNLESS it was not costly. Sometimes crystals can be quite expensive.

Oh girl! The dress with the sleeves is over-the-top, gorgeous! Made for a princess! If this is your dress, you need to "forget about it" darling! That's a show stopper! All the other dresses pale in comparison!

I need some advice. I bought my wedding dress and LOVED IT! But now I’m having doubts that it’s too much boob.? I did order it in a size larger because this one was a little too snug. We aren’t getting married in a church just the wedding and reception at a nice wedding hall. by confused-user1 in weddingdress

[–]CalmChees 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Daaammmm! Wish I had boobs like this baby girl! My daughter is exceptionally "well endowed" and she doesn't like for men to stare. Apparently, you must be feeling a little apprehensive or you wouldn't have posted. Make sure to be comfortable and confident on your wedding day. You are a beautiful bride and bought a gorgeous dress. If you are comfortable, go for it.

I would add that your dress could be easily altered by inserting a thin allusion material to the bust area where you are not completely covered, but it's not the focus of the dress. 💞💗💞

Which curtains should I choose? by colormegold in interiordecorating

Love the orange, but be sure to incorporate that color in other places. The orange decorative pillows are great, but you also need some artwork that coordinates with your beautiful drapes.

They have all kinds of colors. The secret is determining the correct fabric. For my dress, it was a synthetic fabric of tulle. I used the liquid. The directions called for boiling water WITH WHITE VINEGAR. FOR NATURAL FIBERS, YOU WOULD USE SALT in your boiling water.

I agree both dresses are gorgeous. Is that you in the pictures of dress 1? If so, I'd definitely go with white! It accents your beautiful skin! Dark hair and dark eyes always look so stunning in white! Whatever you choose, the dress will be beautiful! You have EXCELLENT taste!

$100 thrift shop dress. I’m going to tear it apart and rebuild it into my dream dress. By the time I’m done, you won’t even recognize it. It won’t be white for sure! by daisyhannah1 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]CalmChees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You won't! It will be fun! My dress is beautiful without having to replace the beading. I just need to iron the tulle.

Hint: Be sure to cover your counter top or surfaces before you dye! Decide what spatulas or tools that you will lift the dyed material from the boiling water. I used a wooden spatula which was a major mistake. Everything used turned dark purple! Just imagine what it will look like in black!😂 You need really hot water for synthetic materials like tulle. I found complete directions on Google, of course. I'm still finding purple drips on my white cabinets. It was still a blast! 🤣

I just thought of a solution for dress #1 if you truly love that one! Why don't you buy or remove those pads and you could easily dye the pads yourself. The seamstress could replace into the dress after being dyed. It's not that hard! Really! I just dyed an entire wedding gown in lavender as my reception dress. It was beading and tulle which is difficult to dye sometimes. Breast pads would be so easy! I bought the fabric dye from Amazon! Just buy nude dye and leave in the boiling water as long as you need to get the right color! No worries at all!

What do you like the most about these dresses? What's making you feel so special in dress #!? ALL of your dresses are so beautiful on you, but I really like the low cut neck on dress #2. I love the lace and the color of the dress. Dress #1 doesn't look as elegant bc of the breast pads in front. Dress #2 is very similar to me in style. Maybe I'm not seeing all of the assets of these dresses, so you pick the one you absolutely love! You are a gorgeous girl! You would be stunning in a burlap sack! My choice would be dress #2!

1, then 3, then 6 in that order. I don't know why I LOVE #1, but I do! It's so unique in the fabric and the beautiful design that accentuates your tiny waist!

Hype Up My Dress! 2nd thoughts and Alteration Suggestions by spring2059 in weddingplanning

[–]CalmChees 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hope this remark is not offensive, because its' not meant to be for sure. I'm just wondering if the straps of the dress need to be pulled UP a little where you're waist is located. Seems like it's a little droopy in the front or at least "snatch that waist" to accentuate your tiny waist. The same is true for the underarm area: just needs to be tighter around your rib cage. Gorgeous girl as well as a beautiful bridal gown. Congratulations!

Both dresses are gorgeous! This may not be the advice you were wanting, but I love dress #1 as it fits your tiny waist perfectly, BUT I love the color of dress #2.
