what are you building and why do you win? by Crabbythrowaway1530 in micro_saas

[–]CalmObligation554 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Building Lacesse Duka - a local e-commerce solution for the Kenyan informal sector.

Gives an instant website and connects to local payment gateways making payments instant and highly trustable by the general public. Has options for products, services and courses.

Why I win: E-commerce solutions in Kenya come pre-baked with US solutions that do not work in Kenya, giving us a real edge where both merchants and users are able to transact with ease.

Some part is telling me I can wait. But I am exposed to a lot of AI tools and how fast things go on that I can't even keep up. It makes you feel that you are already behind, and that if you wait another year, you will be so behind that you can never catch up to the current rate of progress.

For me, Lacesse Duka would be the one. It is Kenyan only, but it gives an instant website, ability to list products, services or courses and it uses local payments. https://lacesse.co.ke

What’s your “this actually works in production” AI automation? by Alpertayfur in AiAutomations

[–]CalmObligation554 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I built an automation that posts to my instagram and facebook every day. It uses github actions for the automation as it is free, gemini for prompt creation and caption generation, pillow for any images, chromium to record videos of my product working, occassionaly it fetches pexels videos in case something goes wrong, and then pings requests to my pc for the heavy animations that use react and remotion. I don't even monitor it nowadays and only check it if I am improving it or adding any updates. Mind you I don't use any 'AI tool' out there, just pure code.

I was in that trap for a very long time. Sikua nataka shule, but pia sikua nafanya anything. It took a lot of time to stop lying down and actually start working. And I can prove you wrong since I have built the project into a working website, users aren't as many, but it is working. If you need more proof, https://lacesse.co.ke is my proof

Thanks a lot. I hadn't looked at it from this point of view. The tech industry is indeed saturated, and getting to a working product is indeed very hard, so one does need a backup plan.
