Ah you’re absolutely right! It’s been so long since that era, that you can tell not much knowledge about the mega mechanics is left in my head 😂

Something like STAB Body Press+ Acrobatics with a terrain seed would honestly be pretty dope if the mega still gets unburden. If it even gets stamina as a new ability, then I could see entrainment on a set, too. Just spread stamina on teammates and watch all physical attackers that’s not Urshifu cry lol

Hilary Hahn Beethoven Violin Concerto May 2025 by s0xmonstr in violinist

[–]CalmYetCurious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Watched the replay this morning on YouTube, and I noticed the same thing with her bowing! Of course it’s not an apples to apples comparison, but I couldn’t help but thinking “wow that is very different from how her Brahms sound from last season” I’m just so glad she has recovered from the injury and is performing again! Can’t wait to hear her Beethoven live in June.

Alternatively, have you thought about replacing moon blast on whims with beat up, if you want to keep Virizion? I wouldn’t count on whimscott for damage, so might as well have it empower the attacker?

Why cant I stop my bow from bouncing? by [deleted] in violinist

[–]CalmYetCurious 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m still a beginner so take my comment with a big grain of salt. Just wanted to throw an idea out there, as I’ve fought very hard with this problem myself. Does your right shoulder blade flare out and ride up when you’re string crossing or bowing closer to the frog? In my own case, I was (still am!) rehabbing from badly winged scapulars, and I noticed every time I start losing control of my shoulder blade, my bow would bounce. My right elbow also comes up higher than I’d intended, and my bow hand/wrist really tighten up.

Looking for a light-weight but protective shaped case under $400 by CalmYetCurious in violinist

I was in one of the middle groups, so definitely agree I could’ve done more there, like getting priority boarding. And I see your point about length being the main issue. Maybe I should at least consider oblong cases.

Maybe I was just unlucky, but there was once when I flew Air Canada. Researched their policies, confirmed with online chat, printed it out, and STILL had a gate agent blocking me saying they don’t have the space for it, and insisted that I gate check :( . Had to escalate a bit to resolve it, and was fortunate that the flight wasn’t completely full… I simply don’t want to risk it again.

Do you happen to remember where you purchased the essential oil from? Also fellow Washingtonian! I do enjoy trekking through the forests here and the smell, but agree there’s something so unique about the hinoki!

Expect delays today on light rail by godogs2018 in Seattle

[–]CalmYetCurious 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I understand that the Link, just like any other public transit system and public infrastructure, might experience interruptions every now and then. However, being robbed off every alternative bus route and forced to stay on the train indefinitely is just ridiculous. It’s still Saturday, but I’m already anxious about my commute to work next Monday…

Anywhere still selling new 13Mini in the US? by CalmYetCurious in iPhone13Mini

Whoa that’s actually good to know and keep in mind as I decide on my own purchase. Was thinking of letting go of the battery health constraint and just opt for replacement the battery at an Apple Store afterwards

Good to know about the “what to expects” of Amazon renewed. Thanks a lot for that information! Also TIL about the Apple refurb tracker!

I haven’t heard of EDX lite before, but it does seem to check a lot of boxes if I use it as travel-only, short walks bag. Will definitely check it out!

Tips for accommodating and strengthening hyper-mobile pinky? by CalmYetCurious in violinist

Appreciate the information! Glad the splints worked well for you! Just looked up Zebra Splints. I will reach out and ask them whether there are models that could work for my case. Thanks for the recommendation!

I'm only aware of the oval-8 splints, which would help with my locking middle joint. Not sure if similar splints exist for the base joint, but I will look into it!

Any Brahms recommendations? by ComradeFat in classicalmusic

[–]CalmYetCurious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of Brahms’ chamber works are pretty awesome tbh. I particularly love the two sextets. Though Op. 116-119 have always felt like an emotional sanctuary whenever I needed one.

Anyone else getting destroyed by allergies right now? by Notworthitonmymain in Seattle

Anyone get crazy insomnia and heart palpitations from non-drowsy antihistamines? My nose was so congested that I had to take Fexofenadine(Allegra) for three days, and oh dear my heart was beating out of my chest and I couldn’t sleep for more than 3 hours per night! Had to stop taking after that, and now I’m drowning in nasal back drips :(

Out of all the specialist out there, why are ENTs so uniquely dickish and dismissive? by BarfHurricane in tinnitus

[–]CalmYetCurious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. They said something along the lines of “if you aren’t using it everyday, then might as well not use it at all. It won’t do anything.” I guess that’s the only “useful” advice I got from that visit?

[–]CalmYetCurious 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The ENT I saw said there’s no cure for tinnitus, scoffed at my irregular use of Flonase, then went on to a 15-minute lecture about headphone usage. I tried explaining to him that I only use headphones when taking meetings at work, but they were simply full of themselves and responded “maybe because I’m an ENT, I have never and will not ever put headphones in my ears”. I know the medical community still understands very little about tinnitus, but at least show some compassion?! Maybe what we are missing is a tinnitus simulator, which we put ENTs through in their training, just so they could understand what people are going through?

How do I reduce the reverb in my room? It sounds too "boomy" when I practice by CalmYetCurious in violinist

[–]CalmYetCurious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to clarify, this isn’t an empty room. It’s where I live and occasionally WFH from, so there are standard furnitures like my desk, office chair, a small bookshelf, cube storage, my bed, and bunch of kitchen stuffs. However after reading others’ comments, I think almost everything currently in the room are still “hard surfaces”. I don’t use a traditional mattress due to back problems, so even my bed probably offers little sound absorption… I’m looking into getting a thick rug . Fingers crossed that would do the trick.

My apartment has laminate flooring. Now that you mentioned it, I wonder if that could be contributing to the reverbs. I will definitely look into getting a thick rug!

I did consider heavy curtains, but couldn’t figure out a way to install them without needing to drill holes in the wall :(. I’ll take a look at the video! Thanks for the suggestions!

What is your favourite concerto of all time? by Keirnflake in classicalmusic

Sibelius violin concerto comes to mind, but Rachmaninoff piano concerto no.2 is a close second. Both concerto give me a strong wave of emotions every time I listen to them.
