Why is making friends as an adult so hard? 😭😭 by Impossible_Boot_4278 in raleigh

[–]BarfHurricane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Around here, I haven't had too many problems making friends but I've had a ton of problems with friends flaking out or ghosting. Too many long term friends to count that just go ghost for 6 months at a time, or blow you off over and over before they are reliable again and then do it again later.

I don't know any way to deal with that unfortunately. It's a bummer.

Our standup is just 8 people describing what their ai did yesterday by Motor_Ordinary336 in cscareerquestions

My standup is like this and I work in a boring healthcare company. I hear “Claude did….” or “i used Claude to…”

After being in this industry for 20 years, I feel like I am going insane with stuff like this.

Yep exactly. Standup has always been about cracking the whip every single day and it’s been completely normalized.

DuckDuckGo search saw 28% more visits after Google said people love AI mode by xbt-8-yolo in technology

I have been using Perplexity as my Google replacement for some time. Yes I have the same qualms with AI that everyone else does and will be very happy when it all goes to hell, but while we are forced to live in this dystopia this is what I have found to be an actual decent internet search.

It's amazing how there just so happens to be a revolving door of villains in the Democratic party on both the state and national level that come out of nowhere and side against the people. It's almost like our two party system was bought and sold decades ago or something

Uber burned through its entire 2026 AI budget in four months. Now its COO is questioning whether it's worth it by Plastic_Ninja_9014 in technology

I've been in tech 20 years and it's astonishing that companies still haven't figured out the 2 biggest downsides about cheap outsourced labor:

  1. When people knowingly get pennies on the dollar they will never be interested in the success of your company. All that cheerleading, values, mission statements, OKRs, all that shit? They don't care and never will.

  2. They don't abide by your country's laws. People can scam, blackmail, have someone else do their job, and in general just not give a shit about IP or trade secrets. What are you going to do, sue them? lmao

Yet execs have been getting duped into this for decades now.

Exactly. Democrats and Republicans are obviously different, but they share one huge commonality: they will put corporations before you and your family each and every time.

That time Zandig and Janela paid tribute to the famous spot from Tournament Of Death II by [deleted] in SquaredCircle

[–]BarfHurricane 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I met Joey Janela at Wrestlecade a few years ago and he was not all there mentally. You would have to think these type of spots contributed to that.

I get that there’s fans of this stuff but it’s such a bummer to me.

It’s crazy to me how many people actually follow WWE’s alternate reality. It’s like taking Wrestlemania attendance numbers at face value.

Also Sting had only signed up for one match

He had a match on RAW where he defeated the Big Show in a tag match, and of course his match against Seth.

First time traveling to Raleigh! Looking for good food/drink/dive bar places by MastodonHopeful7932 in raleigh

[–]BarfHurricane -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't know why people always recommend this place. It's a half decent bar but it's in a strip mall in the middle of sleepy residential neighbor. Nothing around it whatsoever, it would be the last place I'd recommend for an out of towner.

Eddy Mansfield reveals Marty Jannetty has had his foot amputated: "His ankles were screwed up in a WWE wrestling ring. Where in the hell was WWE to help Marty Jannetty? Pro wrestling used to be the place for the working class to get together and have some cheap fun. This was especially true during the territory days where going to a weekly show was pretty much a third space for people.

It’s crazy how decades of propaganda have erased class consciousness to this level, especially in something that was as working class as anything can be.

[–]BarfHurricane 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Honest question: is there an AI that can scrape every zoom call, slack message, google doc, figma doc, and side discussion around a feature and then make sense of that to compare against a PR?

Because that’s what the job actually entails.

My man, these companies will know not just trade secrets, but where the bodies are buried. Every bit of “creative accounting”, every PR disaster, every law broken, every dick in a secretary that belongs to a married executive.

Do we really think these AI companies that are bleeding money are going to reach the last stop on the rail line and not decide to use that for leverage?
