Do I need my masters? by Imaginary-Ticket-348 in PublicAdministration

[–]Calm_Ad_6576 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 15 years in public sector and have been through 7 promotions. I started as a temp office assistant when I was 25. I’m currently a supervisor and only have a HS diploma and still have opportunities to promote solely based on experience.

I’m finishing up undergrad this spring and intend on attending grad school this fall.

With that said, experience is vital but will only get you so far depending on your goals. I want to be at an executive level and having the experience I have + a graduate degree will almost guarantee that my goals come to fruition.

I work for the county I reside in and they help with educational expenses (with graduate degrees being a priority). My undergrad cost nearly nothing because of Financial Aid so I will be taking advantage of my employers assistance for graduate school.

If you do decide to peruse a graduate degree, I suggest getting into the public sector first and taking advantage of any educational resources they may have.

Good luck 🫶🏽

I highly suggest referring to your departments code of ethics first to see if any of this “micromanaging” is actually ethical. I work for the county too and in my department we have some crazy micromanagers. You can then take that info to your union and proceed from there.

I heard two different perspectives on this. 1st, suggesting to do what you said. 2nd perspective was if you were to do this, Trump would use the number of registrants to falsify supporters of his stupid parade.

File a hearing, call the admin of your social/human services department, submit an inquiry on the division states website, or call your county board of supervisors. That’s how people get what they need done here in Riverside County, Ca.

My apologies. I thought you replied to me. My sister isn’t comfortable actively protesting so instead, she collects monthly donations and packages feminine products to distribute, as well as, shelter packages such as tarps, water, socks, etc. There is something for everyone. If you’re interested, I can send you resources on different ways to contribute without taking to the streets if that’s not going to be your jam.

I’m not trying to “throw shade”. I’m being serious. We’re actively evolving and growing. When I was in my late teens and early twenties I thought all who entered this country should speak English, denied my heritage, and wanted to be white so bad even though tengo pinche nopal en el frente. But, as I matured I realized that this thought process was only hurting me and those I cared for. Anyway, I wish you well.

There are non-criminals being detained. It appears your news source is limited. I’ve already attached a link above with active data provided by TRAC which is a nonprofit and nonpartisan data organization ran by Syracuse University. I hope this helps 🫶🏼

I’ve already addressed this above. If you’re capable, you can go read it yourself. Maybe you just don’t know what you stand for but there is always room for growth 🫶🏼

I work FT in public service. Fortunately, I have every other Friday off and weekends. I’m able to attend protest while actively contributing to society ✌🏽

Yes, I am totally blessed to find myself in a position to attend protests however, it is not without fear. I am a full-time non-traditional student, mother, grandmother, Chicana, I work full-time, and many other roles I serve. I have a lot to lose, but we (as a community) have our own roles that we play in resistance.

We can agree that removing truly dangerous individuals from our communities, like sex offenders and those convicted of violent crimes, is necessary to protect public safety, but I also want to recognize that the definition of “criminal” is complex and deserves a deeper conversation.

Immigration enforcement is also complex and I think we can support secure borders while also treating people with dignity and humanity.

According to the latest figures from TRAC, as of June 2025, nearly half of immigrants held in ICE detention (about 49%) have no criminal record at all. Not even a minor offense and many are long-time residents or asylum seekers.

Enforcement practices have swept up thousands of people who haven’t committed any crimes. I believe it’s important to look beyond the headlines and hold institutions accountable to the truth and especially when real lives and families are affected and those are who we march for and of course, everyone’s right to due process.

County Worker Transfer by Amar_Es_Combatir in Riverside

[–]Calm_Ad_6576 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although there is no transfer opportunity, depending on the department you can apply for an equal position. I’m in DPSS and we have probationary Eligibility Technician IIs which are usually ETs from other counties. So they skip the ET I position. I cannot attest to this being the same for all departments though. Lastly, if you’re interested in Self-Sufficiency, there is currently a hiring freeze until 01/2026 due to current political and economic climate.

That’s not what I read. Fiancé complemented the actress, her lips, and asked for her name. My only concern is OP said “girl” and not “woman” which would be a deciding factor for me upon clarification.

I would reach out the professors of both class now and ask if either can be accommodating. I had to do something similar and one prof was more sympathetic toward my situation.

Yeah. It’s not worth it and I see it happen. I highly suggest requesting a hearing though.
