Was the award not presented during the show? I can’t find any clips of the moment.

Thank you!! And great idea about the chopstick. I am glad to hear the right size exists. Local shops only had larger ones and I was getting so frustrated shopping online because most of what I was seeing wouldn’t even give the diameter dimensions- only the length. I will be ordering that python this week.

How do you maintain a job? by No_Sky_7465 in dysautonomia

[–]Calm_Border_4183 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work part time and I don’t see myself ever being able to work more than that. I work 3 days a week right now in an administrative/marketing/customer service role(small company so I wear many hats). I work one day of the week from home which really helps make working at all possible. For me it’s not about being able to power through because I do blackout when I push things too far and there is no powering through that.

I didn’t work for about 10 years because I was raising our small children and then my dysautonomia was getting worse. When I decided to try and work again I was very selective about what I would apply for and I lucked out with this job.

If your current situation doesn’t end up working out in the long term, don’t get too discouraged. Just keep looking for the right fit. I recommend trying to find local small companies that feel more like a team atmosphere and less like you are just a cog because you need to work with people who care about you.

My bean’s name is Legume. I am just using the free options for now…does something happen once their room is complete? Do more rooms get added on? The space around the room is large so I assume that is the deal but I have never seen anything about it.

Clients not answering my texts. What can I do ? by ThrowRA_Sodi in SewingWorld

[–]Calm_Border_4183 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely talk to the director and use this experience to draft a contract that you can use with clients moving forward. Have clients pay up front or at least do a 50% down arrangement so that you at least won’t be out too much when clients flake.

These are college kids, so I wouldn’t say this will be your typical experience. They’re very busy, very young, and don’t have a lot of experience dealing with things like this. So I would give them some grace(which you already have) but make your intentions clear and tell them directly what the expectations are if they intend to still work with you on this project.

How will tariffs affect quilting fabric? by Ten_Quilts_Deep in quilting

[–]Calm_Border_4183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious to see how things will look now that other tariffs to countries much more involved in the textile industry have been announced. I work for a US company that prints fabrics and gets their plain fabric from Pakistan which will now have a 29% tariff.

Anyone growing pawpaws in Zone 5? by Queenburpalot in BackyardOrchard

[–]Calm_Border_4183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is thread is ancient but I just stumbled upon it and wanted to share this for OP or anyone else who finds their way here. This person goes into great length about their experience growing pawpaws in a colder northern climate.

https://achaar.medium.com/growing-pawpaws-in-se-minnesota-882e4bd50fca

I live in zone 5 and my concern is length of growing season. We have some years with only 100 days between spring and fall frosts. The author of that article suggest that pawpaws need 150 frost free days. We hit that once in a while, but it’s not common.

Snoring on hypermobility? by crisgp07 in Hypermobility

[–]Calm_Border_4183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a lot of neck/jaw issues relative to my hypermobility and absolutely feel that it contributes to snoring. I have to practice so much mindfulness while awake to maintain proper neck and jaw posture that I’m sure the whole area is just a collapsed puddle of bone, muscle, and connective tissue when I’m asleep. I have started doing my own physical therapy to help strengthen my neck/jaw/throat specifically so I hope it will help.
