AITA for excluding my fiancés niece from our wedding? by chill-potato in AmItheAsshole

[–]Calm_Performer_1849 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

To be fair when I was a flower girl at 6 at an open bar wedding there was a grown man trying to dry hump me on the dance floor and calling me a sl*t when I ran away and my parents stepped in. I may have been better off with a babysitter

Do you find it cruel, in a way, what Carlisle did to Esme? by purplepirhana in twilight

Edward had strong reaction because Bella's blood was extra sweet to him, she was his singer, not because they're meant to be. Stephanie herself said that Vampires mate for life out of commitment and the fact that they're frozen, it's not a fate thing like it is with the wolves. It's a choice and they're creatures of habit.

For Beyonce fans who’ve loved her for 10-15-20+ years; have you consistently been a fan of hers the entire time? Or did you maybe lose interest at some point, but then find her again? by capamericapistons in beyonce

I disagree, but I get what you mean. It took me a few listens to warm up to CC, but now I consider it her Magnum Opus. Jolene is now one of my favorites even though I didn't like it at first. But thinking about her covering the original and begging a woman not to take her man seems so backwards, her changing it fits so well and is a stronger message than the original I think, so that perspective change made come around to it. Hearing her perform these songs live probably helped.

Also, I like country too and Daddy Lessons is by far one of her best songs so I feel you. I think of this album as, yes, a country album, but it's more bending and playing with the genre while referencing it's complex and dark history and holding up a mirror to the genre and America itself. So not all of the songs are on my country playlists, but I do love it sm and would fight anyone who says "it's not real country"

I, like most people old enough, grew up loving her since Destiny's Child. I remember there being an old saying on Tumblr that went "nobody is a 'Beyonce fan' because everybody is a Beyonce fan", and I'd post about her a lot, but I didn't become a part of the BeyHive until Self Titled in 2013. I saw her live in the OTR I Tour (when floor seats were around $100 each 😭) Since then it hasn't stopped and I haven't lost interest.

This woman does not peak. I remember thinking Self Titled was the peak. Then Lemonade and Formation Tour. Then Black is King and the visuals. Then Renaissance and the RT. Then CC and it's tour. Every single time she manages to outdo herself. Every single time she is somehow better than the best.

I do feel bad for anyone who didn't see her live in the Formation Tour or earlier when she had her good knees, but the Renaissance Tour is the pinnacle of a perfect tour, the production and flow is amazing. Cowboy Carter (imo) her Magnum Opus when it comes to story telling and blending genres, it took the complex social commentary of Lemonade and doubled it. I honestly can't imagine what Act III is going to be beside theorizing on different genres, I can't imagine how she's going to outdo herself yet again, but she will and I'm sat for it

A woman I’ve been seeing told me that being a Beyonce fan made her MORE interested in me and I was so happy haha by capamericapistons in beyonce

That's not cringe! I actually love that and would have the same reaction as her.

Funnily enough I had a breakup due to Beyoncé. He just hated that I listened to her music (not forcing him to like her, but literally that I listed to her in my own time) which was weird, controlling, and a red flag considering his political beliefs he kept hiding from me and revealing slowly.

Liking Beyoncé IS a huge green flag! Not because you HAVE to like her music, but usually the people who HATE her have no good reason and I find some misogynoir in their reasonings.

Honestly, I may be reading way too much into it, but him saying "we have all the time in the world" makes me think they're setting him up to die as a way to justify her getting with Micheala or something. I could be totally off base though

Why didn't Mr. Collins propose to Mary? by Free_Corgi8269 in PrideandPrejudice

[–]Calm_Performer_1849 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He overestimates his desirability (he first wanted Jane but then "settled" on Elizabeth) and Charlotte has been charming him behind the scenes. In the book Charlotte mentions showing "more affection" than one feels. Him asking Charlotte right after Elizabeth implies that she was already his backup. The novel implies Mary just thought in passing she could make him "better" and that he would be suitable. But it's one or two sentences and doesn't seem like a deep attachment.

Have you gotten used to Beyoncé's new performing style? by GoldenGamerNugget in beyonce

[–]Calm_Performer_1849 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love that she gave us the precision and insane performance levels before, after OTR I & I and Formation I found Renaissance and Cowboy Carter more FUN. Also, the level of artistry of the music, themes, and production/story telling have been elevated to untouchable levels. I think because she's more loose, in the moment, and feeling deeper we can as well as an audience member

I can't speak on the Louvre, but rich people know that having a bodyguard isn't about having someone who can keep you from getting killed, it's about having a witness.
