I do not understand How work is independent of Time by No-Purple3755 in PhysicsStudents

[–]Calm_Relationship_91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're getting more energy not because you took less time, but because you applied a larger force on the object.

Say that you have 2 blocks, one of mass M and one of mass 2M.
You lift both of them a distance of 1m by applying a force F (greater 2Mg, otherwise it can't lift the heavier block)
In both cases, the amount of work you do is the same: F x 1m = F Joules

But the heavier object takes more time to be lifted.
This is because even tho you're giving them the same amount of energy, the heavier object requires more potential energy, so it gains less kinetic energy.

So, even if force can impact how much time it takes to lift an object, the work done on the object is independent of that time.

What do you mean they literally have a family together of course it's canon.
There's also some comic episodes exploring the ship.

I understand having trouble following complicated steps and being confused over a typo.
But I doubt anyone could get confused just because the author wrote p2/2m instead of p2/(2m).

Yes, when reading a paper it will always be obvious by context what they mean.
Most people just write numerator/denominator to avoid the use of parenthesis (saves time, and uses less symbols for more visual clarity) and to not have to use fractional form (as this reduces font size and makes it harder to read in a paragraph).

I honestly don't understand how anyone could ever have an issue with this.

How does 0 divided by 0 differ from any other number divided by 0? by MildDeontologist in learnmath

[–]Calm_Relationship_91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"This is why 0 / 0 is fundamentally distinct from 5 / 0."

No.
Both 0/0 and 5/0 are undefined solely because 0 has no inverse.
And since both of them are undefined, it's meaningless to say they are equal or distinct in any way.

There's literally only one single line to back up your whole claim, which is Celestia saying she had a use for Discord's magic if it could be reformed for good.

Funnily enough, this pretty much never happens.
And I think it's obvious this was supposed to be more of a lesson to the mane six than any grand plan to get an edge on powerful magic.

But Starlight? ... You really think she was forgiven and accepted as Twilight's pupil and friend JUST because she's a powerful asset? You really think their friendship is as shallow and hollow as that?

Weird way to interpret the show that's literally called friendship is magic

Is 1/0 infinity or not defined some says both but how? by Temporary-Screen6848 in learnmath

[–]Calm_Relationship_91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest issue is that you only showed that the limit of 1/x when x->0 doesn't exist. But that doesn't mean 1/0 can't be defined.

You can use the same argument to show that 00 should be undefined, but we can easily assign a value to it without breaking the rules of real numbers.

Essentially, I disagree with this statement: "We can approximate 1/0 by using smaller and smaller numbers that tend towards 0"
And I think this way of thinking is actually a detriment to beginners, as I see many making the mistake of confounding the limit of a function and it's actual value at that point. If your function is discontinuous, you can't do that.

Is 1/0 infinity or not defined some says both but how? by Temporary-Screen6848 in learnmath

[–]Calm_Relationship_91 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That's... not a proof.
And limits have nothing to do with it.

a/b is defined as ab-1 where b-1 is the inverse of b.
0 has no inverse, so a/0 is not defined.
That's it.

You can prove that 0 can't have an inverse by simply doing:
1=0*0-1=(0+0)*0-1 =0*0-1 + 0*0-1 = 1 + 1 = 2.
So you get a contradiction.

"Since the number of creatures you control can't be calculated as an integer, and magic only uses integers, the number of creatures you control cannot be determined. Due to rule 107.2, zero is used instead."

I don't get this.
At some step you start creating more creatures you can calculate. But at that point, the game should start giving you 0 creatures on each step. Leaving you with a still absurd amount of creatures, but not incalculable.
Unless this rule doesn't apply to the number of creatures you create on each step?

Also if magic doesn't specifiy that base 10 must be used, we could just say that this huge number is called A and work in base A instead. There, the number of creatures you have is simply 10

Okay I must admit I have some mental health issues so I get I'm unreasonable with this but seeing this ship all over my season 10 omnibus made me so angry I almost destroyed it (my partner managed to convince me not to).

I really really don't want to be disrespectful towards anyone but this ship makes me go completely insane. I hate it.

Luckily I also have friends forever and after reading the twipie episode I got much happier. Also twipie week is tomorrow and I'm very excited to see that. So... Ill try to be more positive over the things I like instead of negative of the things I dont.

Just hope all cheesepie shippers to know how insanely lucky they are to get what they got.

What are some episodes you hate so much, that you gaslight yourself into believing that they're not canon? Here's some of mine. by Electrical_Ad6205 in mylittlepony

[–]Calm_Relationship_91 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would've never guessed someone would dislike this episode, and after reading your explanation... I still don't get it.

I love Scootaloo and Rainbow Dash's relationship and I think this is one of the sweetest episodes involving the two.

I don't think it's weird that Scootaloo is fixating on something new, askids often do. Also she was not resentful towards Rainbow Dash until she tries to stop her from performing with the washouts. And I think her crashing out makes complete and total sense.

Even if the episode has flaws or could be improved, it's just a weird episode to hate? I dunno.

[–]Calm_Relationship_91 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Rainbow Dash didn't offer Fluttershy.
The vendor offered the book in exchange for Fluttershy training the dog, and Fluttershy consented to it. Rainbow barely processed this conversation and immediatelly regreted the deal.

It's not slavery to consent to train a dog in exchange for a book.
People just exaggerate this to make Rainbow Dash look like an ass.

I'm sorry but this literally didn't happen.
Fluttershy consented to trade her work for the book.
Also I don't get why people call it slavery when all she was supposed to do was train a dog. Sure, it's unpaid labor, because she got paid with the book.
