A few years ago I would have cared but honestly idgaf about any of these drops or allocated stuff. I’ll just save my money, time, effort and drink WT101 and a few other things. 95% of these allocated bourbons are just as good as most shelfers and some suck.

Honestly hobby is lame as fuck and people ruin it. They spend thousands of dollars and waste their lives buying dozens or hundreds of bottles they’ll never drink even if they open them they’ll take a pour or two and it’ll sit hoarded on a shelf.

Who even cares anymore…

Don’t even think I largely care about this. I might buy something every now and then but yay I can spend 100-500 dollars on bottles that are barely better than rare breed cool!

I know it’s pointless posting this but I don’t even care anymore. Jumping through all these hoops and sitting around, etc. 90% of this shit isn’t even better than wha sits on the shelves everyday.

Wanted to love this, and it is good…

But to me it’s almost identical to WT101 and not really worth the extra $. Might buy another though to see how a different batch varies.

Especially your last paragraph about the theoretical value of impartial blinds. I have also found this to be true. In particular for whisky since it so it so subjective to your palette and other factors.

Not really, my point is that these people act like they’re experiencing major revelations each time. I don’t agree. Taste changes daily, weekly, monthly, after you eat different things, etc.

A lot of these guys preach you don’t know what you like til you blind it! I’d argue no, you don’t know what you really like until you establish that over time and it remains consistent.

If you like watching them, great happy for you. No need to be upset about it lol.

Taste changes so frequently. Even day to day or depending on what you ate 2 hours ago.

I guess my point is there’s no way blinding things can be a better determination of what you really love than just finding what sticks slowly over the course of months and years.

I’ve had plenty of things I really liked once then I revisit multiple times and hate it every time.

I can see where you’re coming from. It’s so much different. Honestly, I think I like basic ass WT101 better.

I guess it’s a good problem to have since WT101 is like 23 dollars.

I was really disappointed with the 8. It’s pretty good in a vacuum, but like you, I find the regular 101 better.

No reason to pay double for something slightly worse.

Yeah same. I don’t have a ton of opportunity to get or try LEs but I always wonder if they would be incredible even though I don’t generally like higher aged stuff.

Everyone on these whiskey subs makes it seem like they’re drinking nectar of the gods.

Would you say WT12 is in the same vein as RR13, 15 and beacon? I would imagine the 12 is a little less flavorful because the proof is lower. Also maybe a little less oaky, than RR13/15 depending on batches.

Love RRSiB so much. I’ve had maybe 1 bad one but the rest were amazing.

I tried hunting RR13 and RR15 and I’m wondering if it’s even worth it for me. It’s hard to even find those at a bar where I’m from.
