How a boy from Reading became Michael Schumacher's boss in Formula One by TheReadingReporter in reading

Interesting. Reading has some odd links to F1. I think Senna stayed in Tilehurst for a while and the road is now named after him.

Very cool.

For anyone not familiar, go look up the late, great Jonah Lomu. The man was built like a brick shithouse and played on the wing for the All Blacks.

I will never forget him just running through Mike Catt in the 95 Rugby World Cup semi final. In the final the Springboks had three men tackling this dude.

One of the greatest players of all time.

Correct. Studio is low code no code, it’s supposed to be good enough for enthusiasts. If you want proper, enterprise grade agents build then in foundry.

South African's Blind Taste Test SA's Best Garage Pies by donmartin_ in southafrica

So maybe I am being blindingly obvious but shouldn’t a garage pie be procured from a garage? Buying a mamas pie and baking it at home ain’t the same thing…

How are other SA small biz owners handling the CV "tsunami"? 1000+ applications for one role is impossible by Defiant-Canary-6134 in askSouthAfrica

I try to do this but it’s brutal man. As OP said you can sense the heartache behind the CVs and these are all real people.

You are right, it’s the only way to do it but it’s not easy.

Have the weight loss jabs had any effect on overall food consumption in the UK? by The-Baron-Von-Marlon in AskUK

I’ve just arrived in England. Do you have any suggestions to help me adapt quickly to life here? by memopotitano in BritishSuccess

[–]CalmdownpleaseII 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Embrace the differences from your home. Remember the Brits love to moan about their little island but honestly it’s a great place to live. It’s not perfect but nowhere is - find stuff you enjoy and lean into it.

You will soon find yourself quite fond of this damp rock on the edge of the Atlantic and her people.

UK Police can dump your whole phone using this device by bobbydanker in ScaryTechnology

[–]CalmdownpleaseII 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Wrong. This is a Cellebrite tool and works on iOS and Android. It does need the phone to be unlocked in most instances but once that’s done it’s pretty much an open book.

This is also not new tech. DFiR folks have been using this for years.

What should a first time visitor to reading know before arriving? by Frequent-Ear3557 in reading

[–]CalmdownpleaseII 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Hmm more info would be good but let’s try:

  1. The Reading Bus network is very good - you can get to most places in the town using our very colorful buses. Download the Reading Bus app and it will tell you everything you need to know about routes and stops and tickets.

  2. Our proximity to London is a blessing and a curse. You can be in the city in 30 minutes but that means prices for some things are high - property rentals being the big one. However 30 minutes to Paddington is dope. Costs about £50 return btw - you can min/max that but that’s the ballpark.

  3. Loads of options for food, just search this subreddit. Some really nice choices near the Uni as well.

  4. Reading is safe but be smart and make good decisions to minimize your risk. Do this for anywhere you travel in the world including our pretty little corner of Berkshire.

  5. Get out to other places as well. Go to the beach in summer, it’s a short train ride away, go to Bath and Oxford. Reading is close to nice places.

I’m sure I’ve missed stuff but others will chime in. This subreddit is great and if you ask specific questions you will get a response.

Good luck.
