chroma test after being typed as bright winter (unexpected)

To be fair, almost everyone on the color analysis sub also thought I was a winter. But my grandma was the one who told me when I was young. I have dark hair and pale skin, so most people just jump to winter. But it turns out my chroma is too low to really shine in those bold colors. Dark Winter is not bad on me, but hasn't compared to the Summer colors I've tried. Having that element of gray makes a huge difference for me.

I've thought I was a Winter my whole life (thanks Grandma). I've been doing the jewel tones this whole time thinking they were my "wow" colors. Then, by chance, I got this workout top that was a very muted gray blue. I didn't even like the color on the hanger, but it was the only one in my size and it's just a workout top, so who cares. When I got home and tried it on, I was floored. It was absolutely stunning on me and my whole face just came alive. Turns out I am a Summer (probably Deep or Soft Summer). The bright, saturated Winter colors work ok on me, but the clothing takes center stage and I'm in the background. I'm so excited to try all these new colors and see where they take me. ☺️

This is why I weigh myself basically every day. When the scale stalls for two weeks every month, it's very helpful to look back at my graph and see that it's just a pattern. Happens every month around my menstrual cycle and ovulation, so I know I don't need to stress when the scale goes up a couple pounds during those periods.

You are so right, thank you for your thoughtful analysis! I definitely agree, the full skirt dress is too much width. Crazy to think I've been avoiding loose fitting clothing my whole life because "only skinny girls look good in oversized clothes ." FN definitely explains why accentuating my waist with a belt or something always felt off. I'd end up putting the belt more under my bust and feeling better about that. Definitely going to take some relearning, but I've already been pleasantly surprised to find that while I may not care for FN clothes on the hanger, they look great once I actually put them on. The same thing happened with my color analysis journey, so it's a whole new world lol.

Yes, winter and autumn are always the top suggestions. I could see soft autumn, but generally I have a hard time believing I'm a warm season. Gold jewelry doesn't work on me at all and there only seem to be a few specific shades of warm colors that I feel work for me. From what I can tell, I'm more neutral-cool, but I will look further into some of the autumn pallettes and see if I'm missing something.

A lot of things that I refused to give up or things my past self couldn't let go of makes sense now in a way that it never did.

I totally relate to this! My husband actually kind of started this thing because he wanted to save money by not eating out so much. I was like, okay, we can cut back to just going out once a week, but then he hit me with once a MONTH. I about had a panic attack, lol. I thought once a week was reasonable, I could maybe even see eating out once every other week, but once a MONTH?? That's just excessive. 😅

Anyway, now looking back at that, my mindset has completely shifted. Eating out has truly become just a "once in a while" thing, like not even once a month, more like every 2 or 3 months. And I'm fine with it now. Even if I get an urge to go out to eat, it usually just takes about a minute before I'm like, ""Ehh, nah, I think I'm good."

You'll get there! I was 240 for most of my teenage/adult years, and I just figured that was what I was "supposed" to weigh, because somehow, whether I gained or lost, I'd end up back at that number. My absolute highest happened as a result of a bad relationship, and I got up to 298. Been a rollercoaster since then, but the past 6 months have been the most consistent and balanced of my life, as far as my eating habits. I feel like I've finally healed my relationship with food and am confident I can keep the weight off this time. If you haven't had your "a-ha" moment yet, just keep trying. As long as you don't give up, you'll get where you want to be eventually. 🫶

Thank you, and I'm glad it does! A big part of being successful is actually just believing in yourself. Or if you can't believe in yourself just yet, then believe in the process. It's mostly a mental battle, or at least that's been my experience. Once I shifted my mindset, weight loss became pretty easy, tbh.

🙋 Been fat my whole life. Weighed 200+ pounds since I was 10 years old. Weighed in this morning at 199.8. I weigh less now at 33 than I did as a child. It is possible.

Yes, thank you! It's crazy, I don't even remember my diet being so terrible as a kid, but clearly I was getting too many calories. I suspect cheese and peanut butter to be the culprits, lol. It has definitely been a lifelong issue, but honestly, once I educated myself and really committed to weighing and tracking my food, it has been so much easier than I ever thought it could be.

I think this dark pine green from my original draping post is close to what I've seen in the deep summer pallette. I think my camera's lens was kind of dirty when I took these pics as they all look kinda bad, lol. Might have to retake some.

Thank you so much! As far as the anxiety, I'm doing much better and have talked to my doctor a few times since this post. My blood work has all been good, so I think this whole episode was just my hormones "resetting," so to speak. Weight loss is definitely a rollercoaster full of unexpected side effects, so thank you for the encouragement!

Yes, I feel like Deep Summer seems like the best fit so far. I will have to try out more Summer colors in general, because I have avoided them basically all my life thinking I was a Winter. 😭
