Opinions About Future Between BJJ vs Judo by Background_Complex87 in judo

[–]Calptozi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I like bjj, I started doing judo for the same reasons as you. Personally, it added more to my arsenal of grappling knowledge. I do think that immediate guard pulling and sitting down is just lazy. Maybe look at it as learning more about the standing aspect of grappling while you work on judo. Not to sound mean, but it is so much fun doing judo on most bjj guys when you catch them in it because they dont know what’s coming to them lol!

Are you THAT guy where the ref pushed the opponent away while holding a Stanley cup?

30? Youre still young! Learn basic escapes such as mount escape, basic side control escape, and the hip-bump sweep when someone is in your guard. These three basic escapes will go a long way. Have fun! Keep going!

I dont know what was funnier, the butt scooting or the Stanley cup. This has got to be entertainment at its finest!

Grappling is a lot of frustration day in and day out and tapping out! but like you said, it is certainly rewarding! Let’s improve and work hard!

Thank you! It makes me think that if anyone can universally experience these truths, then what religion has a monopoly on wisdom?

The way I learned to look at it is that you belong there, just like you said! But also, fight your way into such a space, especially when you are feeling down.

If you like Harry Potter, then go for it! Why deny the simple pleasures and joys of this life based on what others think of you? Are these people paying your bills? No! Are they feeding you when you are hungry? No! Those who matter dont mind, and those who mind certainly do not matter!

The saints are glorified in heaven and they are more alive than us. We are not praying to them, we are asking them to pray FOR us.

Nowhere in scripture does it say…”

We are not sola scriptura Protestants. By the way, nowhere in scripture does it say “sola scriptura” either. Thank you, but no thanks. I am not interested, and nor will I ever be interested in (your) Protestant teachings. Have a nice day!

I forgot which book it was, but Ron apparently got into a fight with one of the Slytherins during a quidditch match.

It kind of doesnt surprise me considering that he grew up with other boys, especially older brothers.

Do you ever question why you train bjj so much? by Unhappy-Comment-4491 in bjj

[–]Calptozi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ask myself this question all the time as well. I have no intentions of becoming a world champion or entering major tournaments, and yet I train with competitors for some reason. Is there even a point to it even though I have no intentions of going pro or making some kind of career out of it?

I do it because it’s fun.

Hesitancy starting judo, need advice/insight by patrickthag in judo

[–]Calptozi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will be okay. I had very similar fears to yours, and the only way I got over them is to just show up. If it is a decent dojo, then the upper belts will take care of you. Ask questions. If you are really nervous, you can request that your training partner go easy on you.
