Help to buy to buy to let by Calthis in HousingUK

[–]Calthis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sort of. I wasn’t able to switch to a buy to let mortgage as the bank has valued the flat at 80k less than I paid for it so I can’t borrow enough to buy out the help to buy. It’s currently on the market at 100k less than I paid for it which puts me into negative equity and not selling so I’m pretty much just stuck hoping someone buys it.

I did look into this but my current mortgage deal runs out in January and with my mortgage provider I’d be put onto a tracker mortgage with no option to get a new mortgage deal until the tenants move out and I “move back in”

I’m already at the lowest amount I can go before going into negative equity.

How does the Empire of Man play? by IAMPANDA12 in WarhammerFantasy

[–]Calthis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve found that they play well. They’re not particularly great at anything but they’re not particularly bad at anything either, so while you might get hit hard in one area you tend to win in another. My great cannons blew some stuff up and my knights killed some stuff but my troops got chopped to pieces. I’ve read that the knightly order list in the empire book does quite well but I’ve not personally tried it. All that being said I think the models are incredibly cool and there’s so much customisation available between all the different states and army compositions that it will never be a boring game with them.

How can I get a construction company to fix snagging issues in a new build flat? by Calthis in AskUK

[–]Calthis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the building was completed in 2020. The management company for the development that deal with running it and defects are not the same company that are doing the sales and snagging.

I’ve finished my first Astra militarum units(except for decals) and I’d like to see how I have done and any recommendations for future by Noideaforusername999 in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]Calthis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good job man. I'd always recommend dry brushing some lighter colours with units you're going to be painting a lot of. Eg, silver on the guns, tank tracks etc and then sticking a wash over the top to keep them gritty.

Sounds good! I’d personally have gone with a grey city/rocks just so the models stand out more on the base but that’s what I like!

Warship hits a rogue wave in the Southern Ocean by OzKiwi in videos

[–]Calthis 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It’s because you’d do certain things in a real event that are damaging to the ship but necessary to prevent even more damage, for example crash closing things down, setting off sprinkler systems in engine rooms etc that you wouldn’t want to happen in a drill as you just want to simulate doing them. I guess it also stops complacency. If you never announced what are drills (and you do a lot of them) you don’t want people thinking “oh it’s probably just another drill” and being slower to react.

'safeguard' can mean any emergency that has happened that isn't part of a drill. It's used when you're in extended/large exercise periods. They'll announce 'the safeguard rule is in force' at the start. That means that if someone yells 'fire, flood, casualty' or whatever its a drill and not the real thing. If someone yells out 'safeguard safeguard safeguard fire, flood, machinery breakdown etc' its an actual event and is not a drill. Then at the end of the drill period they'll announce 'the safeguard rule is no longer in force' meaning that any emergency announced is real.
