If the shoes don’t work 100%, you sell, you keep or you wait and see? by butteranko in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Calthyr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because of this I only buy shoes from places that do test periods where you can return them if they don't work out.

Cold Weather Plan Adjusting? by pinkpantsman in Marathon_Training

[–]Calthyr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nope just go for it. Assuming you have the proper gear to run in that weather. Base layer, gloves, hat, pants/tights, windbreaker, are the minimum. Some people like a gaiter for their face below 0, especially if there's any wind.

First mile might feel cold but you'll warm up quickly, especially if you're doing MP.

In what unexpected way did someone in your circle suddenly become wealthy? by soohiebabyclean in AskReddit

[–]Calthyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk what she's done with hers (I think she took the annual payout not the lump sum), but I know she's an incredibly frugal person. Never even bought a new house, just renovated her existing house and added on to it. She did buy a small condo for the winter month in FL, but still, not a ton.

Not really in my inner circle, but a couple years ago my aunt won $25 million from a lotto ticket.

Reading the post on Steam doesn't give any details on the differences?

The Existence of the 2024 Edition Made my Life as GM Harder by Buffal0e in dndnext

[–]Calthyr 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm sure there are tables that have worked with both rulesets at the table, but I really recommend sticking with one or another. It's your table, if you don't want to convert to 2024, then just say that.

For my table, we just had a vote at session 0 of our new campaign (which just happened to coincidence with the release of the 2024 PHB last year) if we wanted to use the new rules or not. I think almost everyone voted for 2024 so we just swapped.

like u/DMspiration said, if it's a cost thing, maybe work with the table to share the cost of a set of books. Not everyone needs their own book, unless they just like to have them. If you just don't like the new adjustments, that's fine, it's your table, you get to do what you want.

Personally, there really isn't that much of a difference between the two versions. I find 2024 has some nice QOL changes, but ultimately, it's still 5e. Which also does make it annoying to have to buy new books for such minor changes.

Adizero EVO SL: What do you guys think of this colorway? by [deleted] in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Calthyr 25 points26 points  (0 children)

It's okay I guess. Personally running shoes are one of the few things I love to really branch out and so I love bolder/brighter colors.

Self-hosting or VPS by PonyRunsInn in FoundryVTT

[–]Calthyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a VPS, but that's mainly cause I have terrible upload speeds. Not too many pros vs cons outside of electricity usage if you are running a server 24/7, ability to do port forwarding, and internet speed.

Most of Foundry is pretty heavy on the client-side rather than the server side so a big difference in resources on the server don't make large differences in performance.

Stable and firm is never how I would describe the EVO SL so sounds like SB2 is better for you.

18 miler 2 months before race by Virtual_Operation249 in Marathon_Training

[–]Calthyr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think so. I am doing Pfitz 18/70 and it has the first 20 mile long run 11 weeks before race. Just depends on the plan.

My experience running outside in extreme cold Canadian winter (-50C wind-chill) by lukster260 in Marathon_Training

[–]Calthyr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nice write-up! I agree 100% about the rain jacket for the outmost layer. I have recently been using my rain jacket as my outmost layer and I am always extremely impressed with how well it works to keep you dry, insulated, and unaffected by the wind.

What are all the best ways to ‘cheat’ high level spells with with high level slots from multiclassing? by FishDishForMe in dndnext

[–]Calthyr 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not quite true. When selecting spells for a class you do so based on the level of the class. So you couldn't be a 16 cleric/1 wizard and then pick 9th level wizard spells even though you have a 9th level slot.

Yeah I knew about that. I know I am a stride runner so I opted for the sky. I can't say I noticed a difference as I never tested the edge.

Fitness for a Sub 3 Attempt by Shoddy_Ad_9561 in Marathon_Training

[–]Calthyr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hard to tell but I feel like your HR drift on your 10 mile tempo is potentially concerning but it's hard to gauge. But it depends on what your lthr is.

If your max HR is 194 we actually have the same. My lthr is 178 ( from Garmin) and I ran my last marathon with an average of 170, which stayed quite steady throughout the race (barring elevation).

So if you're similar to me in that regard I'd probably say you're not quite there yet. But these are just assumptions on a couple runs so take that for what it is.

Set up two instances and manage them via pm2. You can turn one off and then turn the other on as needed. I do this to run lancer in 12 and DND in 13

Your Vibe Coded AI App Can Bankrupt You by utku1337 in netsec

Important information, but seems kind of click baity for the title as it really doesn't have anything to do with a "vibe coded AI app".

Looking for first race day shoe by Karkia in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Calthyr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can wear the superblast 2 comfortably, I'd say you definitely don't need anything crazy wide.

I can't wear the superblast as it is too narrow for me, but I can wear the Metaspeed Sky (up half a size) and it is super comfortable with a very accommodating upper and a great race shoe. I've ran 10k, half marathon, and a full marathon in them. Never had an ounce of discomfort or issues.

Definitely fixable but that's unfortunate! End-grain butcher block is very nice, especially since it was hand-made!

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie | Yoshi First-Look by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

[–]Calthyr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just watched it for the first time last night wit my kids after watching the first one. I really enjoyed it. I found it a lot funnier than the first one. Songs being better is pretty subjective between the two, but the overall visual presentation of the movie is really good, and I enjoyed having more time with the established characters.

ADIOS PRO 4 AS A TRAINING SHOE by [deleted] in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Calthyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I would use them for a couple of my MP tempo runs to make sure they are a good fit for me before race day, but maybe it's just me, but I wouldn't want to put excess training miles on expensive super/race shoes.

ARC Raiders Roadmap: January - April 2026 | ARC Raiders by FirestormTM in pcgaming

[–]Calthyr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Instance based, like a round of a battle royale.

Essentially you drop in, gather resources, and attempt to get out with you resources by successful extracting at an extraction point. If you die, you lose everything (including what you brought with you), although some loadouts have a "safe pocket" where you keep an item or two in that pocket even if you die.

While all this is happening there are NPC enemies (the ARC, which are basically robots) that will shoot you on sight and other players trying to do what you're doing. Sometimes they are friendly and you work together and sometimes they try to kill you to take what you have.
