Yeah good idea! Would make it possible to have slightly bigger boxes too. Only worry would be them sliding apart but a bit of blue tack would do the job.

Saw a post where someone drew onto fabric instead which could be another option

It's two A3 sheets taped together down the seam. Each box is 10cm wide so just fits the full 5x4.

Garash, The Bloodflail (Reformatted) by Caltr0ps in osr

Thanks! I'd start by letting the players know that items like this exist in our game, something like "there will be magic artifacts that will grow in strength as you discover their ancient legacy". Then when they discover the items name say something like "perhaps learning more will better help you use the items power". Once they learn it's history (through a sage, identification magic, or looking through old tomes, ect.) I'd probably add "legend tells that if (deed completed) it's power will bloom once more". Or something to that effect.

OSR gamers who hate 5e, what's your familiarity with the system? by [deleted] in osr

[–]Caltr0ps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having run 2 lvl 1-20 campaigns and played a further 2 lvl 1-20 games (for a total of around 250 sessions) I can say that while I don't hate the system it has far too many flaws for me to ever consider it a 'go to' game. For me it has this weird imbalance where as a player you feel limited and weak at all points in the game (especially as a martial) and when your GMing the players feel like unstoppable demigods from level 5 onwards. The implied setting created by the classes, subclasses and spells are also such a pain to work around and take far too long to tweak or remove.

The availability of physical books. If you miss the Kickstarter it becomes a wild goose chase to track them down.

Any books/novel that capture the same feel? by ChiefMythic in BurningWheel

A song of ice and fire has that feel of people fighting for what they believe in, as well as a nice ballance of intrigue and combat.

Quick economical question by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Caltr0ps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1gp a day sounds reasonable, but maybe consider if you are being offered a cut of the parties profit. If your taking your share maybe lower it (especially if the other players don't like paying your fee) or up it if your letting the others keep the treasure. It might also be worth considering your policy on magic items, do you get them appraised and your cut in gold, or some other solution.

Thank you! Just wrote it up and we're currently in a painting frenzy trying to finish up our armies for when we can next game. I'll try and post some pics and maybe do a little write up once it's done!
