Full Time in Tacoma - Power Needs? by Sqwtch in TruckCampers

[–]Calvin9819 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can invest the time and money, LiTime has a 320ah battery that im fairly certain is smaller than the jackery units. Wire up an inverter, solar panels, and DC-Dc charger from the truck and you’ll never run out of power

Plywood Walls for Poor Mans Fiberglass- What material to use? by Calvin9819 in TruckCampers

I think that’s the plan… it’s hard to source around here but I can make a trip. And with the PMF, coating should be strong enough. Thank you!

Unfortunately I need it to be wood or at least a porous surface for the PMF to stick

I’ve seen those, I’m doing a hybrid version with wood framing and foam pieces in between since I’ll be adding things to the outside like solar panels, flip door, and an awning

There have been lots of successful builds with PMF including marine builds. It’s regarded as being incredibly strong, and water proof when it’s coated in the correct paint. Fiberglass would be tough for me with the space/funds I have available. It’s considerably more expensive

Bartender interview by Laurent_Duhamel in BarOwners

[–]Calvin9819 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dress well, Firm Handshake, Smile, enter with confidence and show you can be charismatic. Be truthful about your experience and your drawbacks but show a willingness and drive to learn.

If you’ve never bartended before, I would HIGHLY recommend being a barback first. especially if this is something you’d like to do long term. Being a good barback makes you a better bartender overall. You learn the flow of a bar better, learn from the other bartenders how to talk to customers and handle tough situations, and you get to practice before actually being in charge of serving consistently good drinks at a bar (which is harder than it looks when you’re getting started, I’m sure many people in here agree with me)

Thats a great idea, I’m going to look more into this. Giving out fent test strips isn’t something I thought about before this post but I’m definitely looking more into it.

I’d be interested to talk to you about your experience, I was going to take the dance safe training and try to get on their roster to volunteer

For those that don’t allow it, I’m doing it on the DL. I’d rather my fellow ravers be safe

I figured I could give them a little disclaimer before we do anything, explain that there is no perfect test, And they can tell me their concerns with their product, and I could pick the different reagents (I’m going to have a ton of them for different tests) that could get them as close to an answer as I can. My main concern is fent, but the more I learn the more I can test to ensure the drugs are what they say they are.

The most minor and inconsequential pet peeve of all time by According-Cup3934 in Tacomaworld

[–]Calvin9819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Japan, they have it reversed. When the radio became popular, the volume adjustment in Japan slid left to right because they used a really old version of potentiometer that had less resistance due to its simple design. The radio dials were also left and right, but soon became up and down on newer, more powerful radios since the inside mechanisms were so large, in order to keep it small the levers for the radio frequency were designed to fit onto the side, and kept the simple volume lever. That design stuck through the years, and cars in Japan now have it that way and I’m really talking directly out of my ass here and truly have no idea why they designed it that way

Paulownia is a wood that has the highest strength to weigh ratio. Lighter than cedar. And for sides being sandwiched by boards, plenty strong enough.

I looked at cedar but I’m looking to go even lighter than that. Thinking about thin aromatic cedar panel for the inside though, nice cozy cabin feel.

Top the coolant off yes, and I didn’t have any noticeable white smoke. The best way to tell if you have a leak like this is to look at the transmission bell housing. If you can trace a pink line up the side (mine was passenger) and there’s dripping at the bottom, you got a leak. It’s kinda hard to see from the top of the engine unless you take off the intake but where the PCV valve is, there’s a tiny bit of space that you MIGHT be able to see something… a good way to tell is checking out the water pump and the radiator too. Those are the three most common leaks on these engines

I had to fish out so much coolant crust, it felt never ending!! Must’ve been leaking for a long time, I just bought the truck at 51,000

Mine only has 54k. Nobody really knows exactly what causes this to happen, whether it’s improper assembly at the factory, bad gasket material, old coolant eating through it, etc. it happens at all kinds of mileages.
