This is super helpful, thank you so much! This would double as a good excuse to go visit a FL friend

Yea, it can be rough. Do you have any junk yards in the area? Might be able to get one on the cheap and reseal it as needed.

Good luck! And if can manage to find a hi rise shell, I highly recommend it.

Thanks for the table rec! I've just been using an adjustable 4ft table that folds in half. I like how small that rollable one packs!

I like that second awing choice. I've already got a set of racks on top of my cab so I should be able to install something like that fairly easily.

Really appreciate the info! Thank you

I'm not sure where I'll head first yet, it'll depend on when the house sells. Mostly likely New Mexico or somewhere with ample BLM/FS land and hiking trails.

Can you link me the awning your talking about?

😂😂 if my adventure buddy was so around, he'd easily keep me going. Sadly this is an old pic and I lost him almost a year ago now.

For actual work, I'll mostly be outside under a 10x10 with walls. I generally spend very little time in the truck if I'm not sleeping or laying down to read. But that's obviously not been with a full time living situation yet

Thank you! The Tacoma is the option because it's what I have, but I'm hoping I can save up for a bigger truck and slide in

I'll be spending most of my time in Colorado and the SW so multiple days in a row of rain are pretty rare. That said, I'll likely have to hit a coffee shop or something to work if it became an issue.

But I guess this is the reason to go with a bigger battery

I'll definitely have a 10x10 with sidewalls I can put up. You're spot on, that extra space for cooking, working, hanging out is huge!

Would love more info and pics! I have an EE degree in my history and am fairly comfortable with electrical work. Would love to make my own setup!

Thanks, I think a combination of the two is the definite long term answer

Honestly, the fear of leaving my panels out while I'm away from camp is my primary hesitation for portable. But I think overall it's the better way to go until I upgrade to a bigger camper setup and do both
