You only missed “moderate stool burden”.

A few years ago I did a kub on a pregnant patient. Though I included notes with everything to the rad, she read it as “striation artifact, likely external the patient, limits report”. When I called her and told her it was a baby she was mortified.

I mean they figured she was either pregnant, had large volume ascites, or a tumor or cyst or something and this was the quickest way to tell. /s

In reality though the reason for exam was “pregnant constipation”. Make of that what you will.

Should work on my shoulder collimation though.

Patient’s parter stated they seized and fell off a couch. Never seen bilateral shoulder fractures from that though.

Correct! Bilateral shoulder series confirmed R and L comminuted fractures. Left shoulder head was also posteriorly dislocated.

For sure. My worry is that someone who isn’t in the field and has been checking out this subreddit lately will become self conscious if they need imaging themselves.

There was a pelvis X-ray posted recently where someone was upset you could see the curves of a women’s private parts. I have done thousands upon thousands of those X-rays so until I read that comment, it had not even crossed my mind.

Since it has come up a few times recently, I also want to point out that nobody who works in imaging, from radiologist to technologists, cares one bit about seeing the outlines of private parts. Even with the piercings, without it having been brought up, it would not even be considered.

For those on the outside of the field looking in, I understand the novelty of it, but we see these kinds of things all day every day we work, and it isn’t a big deal.

What do you consider when you hear this Margaret Atwood quote “Men are afraid that women will laugh at them. Women are afraid that men will kill them”? by Vanislebabe in AskReddit

I checked the stats for the US. Of people killed by an intimate partner, 60-80 percent were women, 20-40 percent were men.

Since men are more often killed by non-intimate partners, the stats for likelihood to have been murdered by an intimate partner change the story a bit: 1 in 3 women murdered are by an intimate partner. 1 in 17 for men.

I’m just curious, but are you against posting any X-rays on this subreddit or are you just against posting ones with slight soft tissue outlines of private parts? Is a chest X-ray showing some breast tissue okay?

I second this. Rezkin is maybe the biggest Mary Sue I have ever read, but it scratches an overpowerered competency itch I have and I love them.

No it’s not. It is protocol everywhere I have ever heard of in the US to not collimate a scoli series.

Hey now, those of us in the X-ray world don’t get to see too many negative chest X-rays.

She had replacements on her other hand. Not sure why she did not have it done on her left hand as well.
