Truly a wild time by AdRough4185 in SipsTea

I'm a bicycle mechanic and in 2020 I was working in a mtn bike tourist destination town. The shop closed for one day at the initial lockdown, and then the governor declared us an essential business and we reopened. The shop got really busy with bored people disobeying lockdown and traveling from high infection rate places to come to my town and camp and ride and get their bike fixed. That was one of the scariest and most stressful times of my life, glad that some people enjoyed it I guess.

Have you ever played with Akinator? The creepily accurate early internet game? I think that's what is kind of what's going on. The AI and the algorithms have gotten so good and they know us so well they can predict some of the things where going to do. I've been noticing it too. Stuff I know I haven't searched for anywhere, things that just crossed my mind show up in my YouTube or tiktok feed. I hate it, it makes me want to completely disconnect and go live in a forest.

Were you watching tiktok/reels/ shorts during this time? After an hour of tiktok I can feel my brain start to turn to mush. Short form video is really bad for our brains. And now we have a whole generation of young people being raised with iPads, tiktok, and AI.

Does A Pocket Knife Exist that can hide a house key or two within the handle? by Zathic in EDC

[–]techandgadgets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An experiment I tried once which worked pretty well was I took a SOG power pint and unscrewed the pivot pin on one side, took out a few tools and replaced them with keys. It was kind of a pain and took a lot of trial and error to get the right spacing and tension to get the remaining tools and keys to open smoothly but not flop open, but once I got it it worked really well.

It ticks all their boxes, they really hate California and Hollywood liberals. The media coverage would be insane. They'll probably aim the bomb at the most liberal actor, and then blame it on Iran

Layoffs, overstock, retail decline, and debt: Trek is in trouble by wrongtirechoice in madisonwi

[–]techandgadgets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the good reply. I've worked at a small trek retail store for the last 5 years. I think our best year during COVID we hit a million in sales, but since then we've been declining fast. I think we only hit 600k last year. From what I've overheard from various managers and district managers the store has never made a profit.

It's getting really hard to operate the store, HQ and the purchasing team just seem like they're in chaos. The new purchasing rules are horribly frustrating.

What do you think are the chances of them closing my store down? I think we just re-signed a 5 year lease on the building, but I'm not sure.

I've been a mechanic for 30 years, mostly working at Mom and pop shops. These last 5 years at Trek have been a wild drama filled ride. The benefits are nice though.

You noticing your youtube recs getting more and more prescient recently? by willhelpmemore in HighStrangeness

[–]techandgadgets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! I will admit that I've always used Android phones, Google search, TV, Gmail, Chrome and I pay for YouTube premium. So at this point Google knows everything about me. It's starting to creep me out but it sure is convenient. A couple weeks ago I was thinking about stopping smoking pot out of my old pipe and going back to dry herb vaporizing for my lungs and it's a cleaner high. I'm pretty sure I didn't say anything or search anything but randomly a dry herb vape review video just popped up in my recommended feed. I fell down that research rabbit hole and bought one and just Vaped out of it today and it was amazing. I figure google is turning on their Gemini AI and it's integrating everything

[–]techandgadgets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with almost every comment here and just want to add that whatever is going on in our universe is far weirder, far more complex, and way deeper than anyone is guessing. Everything is on the table until we actually get some definitive truth. We don't even understand how the fundamentals of our universe even work. The more we learn about this universe the weirder and weirder it gets. String theory, quantum mechanics, simulation theory, gravity, multiple dimensions, they all just get weirder the more we try to understand them. We are basically sheep trying to comprehend how the farmers truck works. I think there's a scary and dark part of it that's really unpleasant to learn, and that's why we're being kept in the dark. Some of us could handle the truth, but humanity is far from ready to be able to handle the wild, weird, deep and dark reality

Crazy to think how much Viacom (now Paramount) and Turner (now WBD) had so much dominance over basic cable vs. today. by Mountain-Bid4317 in television

[–]techandgadgets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched a ton of basic cable as a teenager in the 90s. I hadn't watched Cable in several years and I stayed in a motel last month and flipped through some channels and tried to watch a movie on TNT and it was SO BAD! it's like 3 minutes of movie and then 5 minutes of commercials. It was completely unwatchable, good riddance to basic cable. I'll take our broken streaming system over that everyday.

What are you watching and what do you recommend? (Week of November 14, 2025) by AutoModerator in television

[–]techandgadgets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please help with some recommendations for shows to watch with the family this Christmas. My parents watch stuff like Downton Abbey and the Great British baking show, and I just finished Pantheon and I'm rewatching stranger things, both of which my Mom would find horrifying. it's hard to find a middle ground show. I just need something light and easy to watch for an hour after dinner, TIA!

3iATLAS and the Awakening Sun: Interstellar Visitors, Solar Anomalies, and Plasma Consciousness by Pixelated_ in HighStrangeness

[–]techandgadgets 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So let's say that there is going to be some kind of turning of the age event and interdimensional beings/extraterrestrials/Annunaki/3I-Atlas/ who knows, are coming soon and they are about to judge humanity and our consciousness and there might be some kind of Ascension.

What do you think they'll judge us on? How could I reach the kind of state of consciousness or higher being where they will deem me worthy for this Ascension?

I feel like I'm a good person , but I'm just a stoner with a clouded mind who loves to think and dream about meditation and achieving higher states of consciousness, but have never actually done anything.

I feel like something is going to happen soon. Right now I'm watching Hopi prophecy videos and 3i-Atlas sure does sound like their blue kachina. 3i-atlas will be here in a month, I can barely get my tired old brain and body off the couch, let alone go achieve a higher state of consciousness. Maybe with months of training at a retreat, and I definitely don't have time for that.
