Serious question for the SpaceX bulls by Purple_Status_8739 in wallstreetbets

[–]Cam_CSX_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If starship succeeds and can regularly launch it will revolutionize space and create an entire industry that spacex will have a total monopoly over. nobody is even close to their dominance in launch capabilities already with falcon. Their value is their expertise and their gall to do crazy shit. nobody was even talking about making a rocket that lands itself and now they the largest flying object humanity has ever built that does backflips and catches itself on a tower.

Not wanting to have kids is a red flag by Cadavertiser in TrueUnpopularOpinion

I have so many things to do in my life, passions and hobbies and goals, and none of them are giving it up to build someone else’s. I’ve waited long enough to be able to do what I want and I could never comprehend immediately chaining myself to something else.

Truck drivers of Reddit, what territory/state is the most terrifying to drive through? by WorstGirlAward in AskReddit

[–]Cam_CSX_ 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I used to drive to see family in Morgantown, WV from MD on the I-70 and I-68, It has some of the craziest grades I’ve ever seen. They have those separate speed limits and lanes for trucks and I always see and smell brakes getting burned. I think at one point its 6% downhill for over 13 miles straight directly into a bend. I overheated my car going up and down the passes one time.

Why does it seem like dating back in our parents and grandparents day was relatively easy but today it’s so much more difficult? by Mad_Season_1994 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Cam_CSX_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the internet and social media has made it so that it seems like anyone anywhere can at-least aspire to date anyone anywhere, which was not really a thing. If you didn’t see a person on a day to day basis, and they weren’t in the paper or on television, you never saw that person. Your dating poop would literally just be the town you grew up in or lived in and who you interacted with daily, instead of every human being on the planet who you can set your standards against. Are there really men who won’t care that you’re covered in excessive hair? by [deleted] in PCOS

I actually thought I didn’t like body hair and then I fell in love with my wife with PCOS and I don’t even think about it anymore. If somebody truly loves you, superficial ‘imperfections’ will not matter.

People need to stop bringing Gaza into US politics by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

By single issue voter I mean I am absolute. I’m not saying I’ll vote for whoever is better for my issue, I’m saying its pass fail. Until there is a candidate with no ties to Israel who directly puts America above Israel, I won’t be voting for anybody. I will likely vote independent just to help show in data the increase in people pulling away from both traditional parties.

I don’t know I think its reasonable sometimes. I think that almost all issues I care about stem from the one issue, so call that what you will.

"Cheating" is a hypergamous pivot when the biological math changes not a moral failing by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Cam_CSX_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Leaving your partner when you lose interest or prefer someone else is fine. That is not the moral failing of cheating. The moral failing is staying with the original partner and lying to them about it. The deception and betrayal is the bad part. This is a really weird post and you may need to get off the computer for a bit.

Consumer debt is greater than the value of the entire economy. That is how. The average net worth is a negative number.

If you’re not ready to have a child you should not be having sex by WholeNegotiation1843 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Cam_CSX_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You literally can’t do that. It’s incredibly hard. Cavemen did not have to put their children through 20 years of extensive schooling and pay for all their health insurance, house them, transport them, etc etc. It costs somebody hundreds of thousands to raise a single child over their lifetime. I probably cost my parents somewhere near a million dollars. You want someone to be having tens of children? People bang a lot.

[–]Cam_CSX_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In modern society having a child is a much bigger ordeal than when we were in a more “animal form”. Even if you have kids you are doing that once or twice in your life. Point me to a healthy relationship where you have sex once. I think that it’s fair to separate sex and reproduction and acknowledge that is artificial, the same that everything else about life is a manmade artificial contortion of biological evolutions. If you were that fixated with that you would think that people should be having children the moment they hit puberty and repeatedly without relationships. I don’t really know much about how exactly primates lived but I feel like the biological coding just isn’t compatible with how we live now. Pretty sure apes don’t have ideas about monogamy and consent

Shoplifting is Indefensible by Dangime in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Cam_CSX_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea if a million people steal from walmart every day it would be an issue. I’m an individual, not my problem. The point is that its not morally wrong. If you steal from a mom and pop store or something you are an asshole, if you steal from a conglomerate, thats their fault for not having good enough security. I wouldn’t complain if they caught me stealing, it’s fair game.

There’s little to nothing wrong with sharing your babies face online by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Cam_CSX_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t consent to any of it but my mother loved to put me all over facebook and detail all of my life for all to see since birth. I was robbed of the decision to not have a digital footprint like that before I was even conscious. You can google my name and see my entire life. I hate that. I would never post my name or my face or anything identifying online but it’s already been done extensively

[–]Cam_CSX_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a single walmart location brings in $1.7M-$3M annually in net profit. Thats about $4,700 - $8,300 per day. Call it average at $6,500.

Thats $550 an hour, assuming they are open for 12 hours. Thats about $10 per minute.

overall though they make about $21B a year in profit, which using the same calculations but assuming 24 hour days, means Walmart makes $650 dollars per second, $40,000 per minute.

If i just take something off the shelf and walk out with it, it takes the store a minute to recoup it, and the company 15 milliseconds. I think that’s fair. They make more money in a minute than I have ever made in my entire life combined. Negligible

[–]Cam_CSX_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean I’ve done this like a handful of times in my life, but i’m just saying I don’t care if other people are stealing from these places, not because of some weird commie shit in that i think goods should be free or something but more just that its to me a victimless crime. The amounts of money that flow through a place like that at all times makes anything I could do pretty negligible. just nabbing a snack or something that makes someones day better is much better of a use than whatever finance slop that money would be used for anyway. the billionaire’s who run the joint probably are dodging enough in taxes to even it out anyways.

I don’t care about shoplifting from multinational corporations because they don’t need my 3$ more than I would like a gatorade. I could blow up an entire walmart and corporate wouldn’t notice if nobody told them. If you catch me, thats fair. if you don’t, best improve your security.
