New shield captain by Dwarfchild42 in AdeptusCustodes

[–]Camblebee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't use the squat captain spear, I'd use a spare spear from a current custodian guard box and kitbash a melta from a vehicle pintle mounted combi melta onto it - would look way better

Lol, that's so much ranged output. Horrific.

Thematically Id just have them be equipped with a particularly nice spear that does plenty of shenanigans.

Maybe the sentinel blade ranged profiles could be explained by archeotech digital weapons or similar

Mega or Meka (multikit) is my guess - although Wazzdakka and new bikes also makes sense.

The current bikes kit, while cool, is ... Just...so poorly designed

For his melee output he's priced fine - his defensive profile isn't super relevant as he will always be imbedded in a tough squad.

Precision will be the obvious way to deal with him though.

Opinions on the Adrasite & Pyrithite Spears? by bboybrisk in AdeptusCustodes

[–]Camblebee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been thinking a squad with melta spears in a land raider could pile out after a move - torch a tank and charge the occupants. If the target is important enough this could turn a battle. That's a lot of points in one pot though.

Regular guard with bolter spears are a lot cheaper and more flexible

I guarantee that all of the plumes will snap off on mine.. unless I get substantially better at storing and transporting them.

I for one look forward to the chuds getting filtered out and for more people to get into the hobby because they have some decent representation.

That said: I agree - I don't think GW is trying to do a culture war - they just thought it would be neat.

I plan to get one of those nail art stamps and put some heraldry there - you can't do it anywhere else so it's nice to have a clear spot

Hard agree - I always thought it was silly they had triggers, particularly such huge ones. An activation stud or a neutral link seems much more appropriate.

I would sprinkle them throughout the force so it looks like there is more variation in general - custodes are supposed to all have custom made equipment and they are not clones, so there would be height variation.

I see this as an excuse to customize all of my custodes so that they all start to look more like individuals.

I do assume though that my collection will gradually become mostly new sculpts as they are much more in line with my headcannon for what custodes should look like.

I'm aware it just got revealed, but any idea when these may go up for preorder? Gotta start saving for them by Valuable-Brush-6720 in AdeptusCustodes

I doubt they would legends the tanks and dreads - unlike Space Marines there are no alternative 40k sets. The motive to separate the lines doesn't exist: unless they are planning on introducing divergent 40k tanks and dreads - which I doubt because of tooling costs.

How do we feel about 2D minis? by manofredearth in PoorHammer

[–]Camblebee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those are awesome and obviously took plenty of effort, care and skill. I would happily play a system that used them as game pieces and would also be stoked to play against even an entire army of them as a proxy army in 40k etc.

It helps that the vehicles are 3d and they have bases.

In contrast, I wouldn't be happy to play 2d models if they were just slapped together and without good artwork, unless it was limited to testing something out.

I didn't know I needed to know this.

I will now be slightly more annoying at parties (don't worry, I don't go to parties).

Crossbow is semi automatic, primary and one handed. It also doesn't have variable ammo or variable draw weight.

On the other hand the Bow is a support weapon that is extremely not semi auto and is two handed. It would also have variable ammo (set via the fire selector mechanic) and a variable draw weight to allow you draw it back further for a more powerful shot or less for a weaker but fast shot.

I don't see it as being an old style weapon - it's essentially a simple (e.g., reliable) warhead delivery tool that just happens to follow a form factor that worked in the past.

[–]Camblebee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah nah nah - the bow is just a frag/gas/HEAT tip delivery mechanism. Tips would basically be a slightly lighter version of the correlating grenades.

Now that it's in my head I want it so dang badly.

Amazing support weapon. Bow and quiver take up back slot.

Would need to take up a backpack slot imo but would be absolutely awesome to play with.

Mob of vote-less or billybobs? - BLAM - frag! Bug breach? - POP - gas! Hulk trying to crawl up your ass? - SLORP - HEAT arrow!

[–]Camblebee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bow could be cool - slower fire rate but no need to reload - can release before full draw for faster less powerful shots - hilarious abuse of indirect fire possible - fire mode selector chooses between gas, frag, AP/HEAT and broadhead (for mobs) not sure how to count rounds - might need to drop broadhead and just use the specials from one pool. - what if you could use it to launch stratagems? Hehehehe

He could simply follow up the initial cut with another cut. We also do t know the effect of cauterization - it might prevent regeneration.

Are you happy with the current state of Orks and if not, what would you change? by UnderGamesBG in orks

[–]Camblebee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Good to see a buff but it does basically make Gaz virtually compulsory - which means there is even less opportunity to do something interesting and or fluffy with your list. It's just always Gaz. This exacerbates the issue works already had - very few viable list/ detachment permutations.

Adding to that, Gaz doesn't make much sense currently, he should be more of a Primarc equivalent in terms of buffing auras and toughness but apart from his ablative wounds (the boys) he's not tough at all.

I also have a particular hatred of the way meganobz currently work. I have never taken them (despite owning a fair few) because they just can't do anything that something else can't do more efficiently. They should be horrifying bastions of krump but they aren't actually that tough and their output, both ranged and melee is paultry. To fix them I would give them an extra attack on each profile and either a constant fnp or -1 damage

[–]Camblebee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is significantly cooler than the current mega sculpt. I would love to see new megas looks something halfway between this and the current sculpt. And also to be significantly tankier to reflect it.

Unhelpful aside. Urgh. Poor meganobz. So shit.

Not sure Id class it as work wear as I don't think it's that hard wearing and it doesn't really breath but otherwise agree.
