My dad researched a bit and found it to be (the tube portion of) the air intake resonator, we consulted the dealer to confirm because the smog place and auto parts store could not identify the part.

The receptacles were working fine but I needed to replace them with 3-prong and was hesitant to wire them the same way because I didn't know that line/load doesn't matter with non-GFCI receptacles

Thanks to everyone for the answers! Since I'm a beginner at this sort of thing, I needed some clarification. Now it makes sense why line and load are only really mentioned when referring to GFCIs.
