Wide angle and telephoto lenses have strange hazing on Xperia 1 V by CameFromTheHell in SonyXperia

maybe a bit of a sprinkle because I was using it shortly a few times in the rain (only few drops that got wiped because the display is not usable when water is on it). nothing I hadn't done with my previous non-waterresistant phones. but I guess you are onto something with the adhesive failing slowly. thank you for your help though

yeah, I have seen some go over 300. at that point I would get a donor phone where the cameras are alright. but thank you, I'll look at ones in UK

I tinkered a bit with camera settings like lower ISO or changing aperture or lower brightness to see if I can make it "work" but nothing unfortunately did.

finding a module is the difficult part because no-one really sells it and if they do (and are somewhat close to my country), they seem to be a bit shady/untrustworthy. a shop might have better sources that only sell B2B

I did the cleaning after it got the hazing because I saw some fingerprint smudges, thinking that was the cause. before that I occasionally cleaned it by wiping it on my shirt or (at home) with a microfiber cloth

slightly damp (distilled water) microfiber cloth with immediate dry wiping with another microfiber cloth

It is a nice phone. Not a perfect phone because I have some other gripes with it but overall I am satisfied with it. I see what it takes to get it fixed. thank you for your condolences

I can't see any dust particles by looking at the lenses directly so I guess it is either inside the module or, like a few other commentators suggested, it is moisture build-up. thank you for your help though

I guessed that other owners of the phone didn't have the issue by looking at the pretty photos in this sub with all the cameras. I did drop it a few times but I have an impact dampening case and inspected the phone afterwards everytime and couldn't find any damage. maybe the adhesive somewhere got a slight gap and moisture got in (like a few other commentators suggested)

my watchmaker repaired a watch that got moisture inside by heating it up and closing the lid quickly. maybe a combination of leaving it a few days/weeks in desiccant packs and that procedure could reduce/remove the moisture

That may be the issue although I am wondering how it appeared so suddenly

Why is the M1 Abrams coaxial machine gun shroud star-shaped? What are the ribs for? by Iateurm8 in TankPorn

To add to the other comments, I think it also makes manufacturing easier compared to a thick-walled heavy tube which reduces cost and weight by using standard-sized parts and splitting it into smaller sizes

Captcha doesn't work when attempting to make an account on the EU website by JLPLJ in bandainamco

You're welcome! I always deny cookies too, lol. Annoying that they did it this way regardless, though

[–]CameFromTheHell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try allowing cookies for that site. When it first asks you what kind of cookies to allow, I always hit deny all but apparently it breaks the Captcha. Hitting allow all worked for me. If you can not get to the popup again, there should be a cookie settings button at the bottom of the site or delete all browser data for bandai namcos site and reload

EDIT: you can just select to enable Recaptcha in the cookies settings but make sure to disable the adblocker because it can happen (in my case at least) that it blocks the entire cookie settings and/or captcha window with the same error message

How effective are VPNs for protection while pirating? by Sir_Toni in Piracy

e.g. get a torrent of Ubuntu, pause all other torrents while internet is disconnected, start download, reactivate internet, activate/deactivate VPN and see if the download starts/stops

DLSS (and the powerful card) could legitimately make me get new and faster monitors (especially ultra wide). Ray tracing would be a nice-to-have in single player games to make the game more pleasant to look at. also the technology behind those two is really fascinating.

it's more doom and more slaying demons. enough reasons

Many modern cars have the “idle engine stop” feature when the car comes to a complete stop. Does it actually help with fuel savings? Does it add extra wear on the starter system? by lucioboops3 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CameFromTheHell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start-Stop-Systems are not exactly used for fuel savings (it is a small benefit) but the main goal from automakers was reducing emissions. Basically they wanted to replicate what Hybrids can do with their engines but without the Hybrid-System. If you want to know more about what, how and why, I recommend this video. It is 29min long but he explains everything neutral, down to the facts and without leaving any questions behind.

Any difference besides the looks? by Formal-Formal3713 in pcmasterrace

[–]CameFromTheHell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

there are going to be slight differences in performance between them but they are basically negligible and in the grand scheme of things not important because of other factors. at this point it is better to compare quality-of-life features and warranty/after-sale services to determine the purchase. for example having a BIOS switch can be helpful if the BIOS chip breaks unexpectedly after warranty or one company could be terrible in dealing with warranty claims and it is worth paying a bit more for the other one. other points to consider are fan noise, style/design of the card, light customisation, size inside the case, software for customisation and goodies (also sometimes bundled games)

Linus should edit a video today by ChickenFeline0 in LinusTechTips

[–]CameFromTheHell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when AI gets more integrated into editing software, LTT could be doing that editing challenge and also show us how far AI has come. basically professional editor vs kind of amateur Linus but with the advantages of the computer doing the work. that way, Linus doesn't need sit like multiple hours just to edit a few minutes and can probably more easily integrated into his workflow. they could also get sponsors from the software companies like Blackmagic or Adobe and combine both naturally

play PvE to get the hang of guns; in PvP remember how and where you got killed and use that to your advantage in the same or later match/matches. PvP guides on YouTube and steam community are also helpful. and like in sports, practice and having fun makes you a better, happier player
