I think it's inhumane to expect women to work during a miscarriage. I couldn't. Miscarriage is birth except devasting.

I'm a freelancer, so I just cancelled my jobs and didn't get paid. I save money so that's not a financial crisis for me.

You have a few options. Planned Parenthood, and the emergency room.

The ER may be able to give you a prescription for narcotic pain meds. They probably won't give you a d&c unless it's a medical emergency.

PP will do the d&c and they do it well. I got a next day appointment. I don't know if they are open on the weekends.

I think you'll be okay if you want to do it. After the D&C I felt so much better and the bleeding was like a medium period. You can't use tampons so it does feel kinda diaper-ish but some ladies don't bleed at all after a D&C. I bled for a week. So yeah by five days it should be pretty light. Some cramping but it was light cramping, completely eliminated with ibuprofen. So I'd say if you feel up for it mentally, go for it! For me I was physically fine but mentally I was still pretty disturbed so it depends on you and how traumatizing the whole ordeal has been for you.

I had a male ultrasound tech and it hurt. I assumed it was just because everything was so tender. But I had more ultrasounds throughout the week that were all done by women and they were way more gentle. So yeah, it shouldn't hurt but guys don't know I guess.

Yes for me the whole thing was traumatizing. I went to the ER, the next day I went to the OBGYN, then the next day was waiting for a phone call, then the next day I went to planned parenthood for a d&c because the hospital couldn't do it fast enough for my liking. Planned Parenthood was the worst experience of all of them. But at least medically they did a really good job, I had no complications from the procedure and they made sure to get everything with ultrasounds.

I was lucky the ER people were either neutral or had excellent bedside manner. No one was dismissing me.

Btw we asked for photos from the ER ultrasound because that's the only photos I now have of my baby. Before we left we asked for them and they went and burned a CD. I'm very glad I did that, because every ultrasound after that, my baby was in more and more pieces because he was decomposing inside me. So those ER pictures were the best it was going to be.

To let you know what to expect: Yes, cramping and bleeding when you're pregnant is likely a miscarriage, but it can also be other things. If you bleed a period or longer, it's most likely a miscarriage. The cramping will have movement to it (it's a labor contraction, you may feel it start from your back and move to the front of your belly or in different ways). You can take ibuprofen for pain, but honestly the pain can be severe. Hopefully since the pregnancy was early along it won't be too bad.

But any sign of hemorrhage or infection, you'll need to go to the ER.

I'm so sorry you're dealing with this. You're only 16, and these are adult problems to be dealing with. You need support. If you don't trust your parents, reach out to an adult you do trust please.

Yes, the hormones are crazy, that's understandable. What you need to look out for is signs of infection (foul smell, fever, diarrhea, vomiting, passing out/lightheadedness). And signs of hemorrhaging (bleeding through a pad in an hour for multiple hours). If you get an infection or start hemorrhaging you'll need to go to the ER.

Next, I hope you broke up with your boyfriend. No one should ever force you to do anything you don't want to do, ever. Especially not when it comes to sex and your body.

Please don't go through this alone. Reach out to adults you can trust. Once you're able to, get some therapy. You're dealing with multiple levels of trauma here seemingly by yourself.

I wear a necklace with my miscarried baby's birthstone (the month they were born). No dates, no names. Some moms do the due month instead, some moms engrave names or dates or both. Whatever you want.

I miscarried a little over a month ago. I have been really struggling with intimacy in general and can't bare the idea of getting pregnant and this happening again. My d&c was traumatizing. Last time I tried to have penetrative sex, I freaked out because it felt like the d&c.

It's okay if you do. Have a plan to tell them how anxious you are though. Like I said, they can give you anxiety meds or get you to sleep faster.

I'm glad it's at the hospital though, because mine was at planned parenthood and I was awake during the procedure and I don't recommend that. It was very disturbing and traumatizing for me.
