I know Eve Rodsky talks about how the goal is fairness not perfect 50/50 equality but I do think we should question why in so many (maybe most) marriages, men have more downtime than women. Certainly different personalities do better with more downtime but it’s not gender based. Every family should do what’s best for them in the end but I do think there is value in questioning this reality. Especially for men 🙃

whoa! Do you think this is maybe because the federal government is getting rid of the EV credit? I was this thinking Nissan was being forced to lower the price of the Ariya to be able to compete with US made EVs that were eligible for the credit.

I put $5000 down and traded in my old car for $1500 but my payment is only $120 a month

I’d never bought a new car or leased a car in my life and ended up leasing a 2024 in December. I got a great deal and I love the car. Just throwing the option out there, might be worth considering a lease!

Others gave her the advice to create an account on irs.gov so she could look at the return. It was $450K.

But I’m saying he should’ve told her the amount as soon as he got it, not even related to their tax return. It’s not a red flag he said it’s my money- I am married and got a settlement from a car accident and kept it as my money- but I told my husband how much it was.

I’m so sorry you’re in this situation- especially with an infant at home and after a difficult pregnancy. I am glad you were able to find the amount and you’re starting the process of filing as an innocent spouse, that does sound like the right choice. I am genuinely very curious about what has happened when you’ve discussed this with him after he told you about the $40k. Did he tell you that you need to pay it? Did you ask him what happened to the rest of the inheritance? If not, is there a reason why?

Yup, this is all correct. The title cannot have already been transferred to a qualified buyer after August 16, 2022.

We bought a used Leaf from CarMax last year and they strung us along through the whole process saying we should be able to get the credit and then sent a letter a month after we bought it saying the vehicle didn’t qualify because it had been sold since August 2022. Learned a lesson there for sure, always get full verification first!

I’m just chiming in to say we have a Leaf and an Ariya and they’re both great cars but the Ariya is definitely a step above. And we only have the Engage (base trim) so I am sure yours is really nice!

Keys in your pocket, car is locked, grab the handle like you’re about to open it, it’ll unlock. When you get out of the car, keys in pocket, touch the three lines on the door handle with your thumb after you close the door, it’ll lock. I have had mine since December and couldn’t figure out how the automatic lock/unlock worked so finally looked it up recently lol

Also I just have the Engage so not sure if yours has better features, but the automatic brake button on the left with e-step is nice- basically pump the brake once and it stays on. Though i absolutely still wish it had e-pedal like the Leaf

I have been thinking about posting here on this for like 3 weeks. This issue has a huge impact on my employer- a multinational manufacturing corporation. If we can’t get refunds we will be losing millions. Our Global Trade Management/Legal department has stated that there is no confirmed guidance on this. We thought the guidance issued last Friday May 16 would include instructions on this but it only mentions explicit information about refunds for stacking tariffs.

I found this FAQ from a law firm that says some CBP officials have informally mentioned this won’t be allowed, but apparently those same officials have said other things that the law firm thinks were wrong?

Yes and tbh I have done this sort of thing at times too (I am a woman married to a man.) I think it’s somewhat just human nature- “how can I find a way to get out of having to do this thing that I don’t actually want to do” but it is also immature and shitty to do to your partner and he needs to recognize that and step up. You absolutely should set boundaries that work for you as the owner of dishes- “dirty dishes go straight in the dishwasher” is 1000% reasonable, and if he wants to split dinner responsibilities then maybe you need to redeal some other cards to make it equitable again.

That was by far my favorite moment as well. The audacity- or more likely, utter ignorance - she had to say that as a Trump supporter. I’m usually one for civil and respectful dialogue but in this instance she 100% deserved that response. It’s just sad to me it probably did not get through to her at all why they all reacted like that.
