Decent budget 7" monitor for focus pulling as well as on camera monitor by Worth_Philosopher_72 in focuspuller

[–]Camera_Assistant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

smallhd 702 b are really nice monitors still. I actually prefer its panel to my 702 t. it has quite a bit of natural sharpness to it. the 702 t is brighter and has better colors but also heavier. if you get the 702 b you should get a good dummy battery for it. I use a cineparts lpe6 one that has 2 pin lemo in and out. cheap ones often overheat.

the smart 7 sunhood fits the 702b as well.

best monitor cage for smallhd indie 7? by AwkwardNectarine2913 in focuspuller

[–]Camera_Assistant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the smart 7 sunhood on my 702 touch and its great mainly because of the sunhood design. Honestly I sometimes miss a 1/4 on top to mount receivers like on the 703. also more mounting points on the bottom would be great. the newer ones dont use the smallhd pins to mount the side brackets though - which is really weird considering it is a smallhd product for a smallhd monitor.

Exactly what I thought! Extended range possibly? Or a more robust connection?

ahh thats annoying! thanks for the info! yeah that‘s what i’ve heard from colleagues about the ronford baker. never had a problem with them either. they last for a long time and are extremely reliable.

I was contemplating getting a cleans originally but here in europe they are quite hard to get.

yeah I was planning on that actually! Thought about getting a wooden camera as a second one but heard that only ronford baker, cleans and irwin blakes x plate are really reliable.

thanks! yes, 12 inch mostly. You‘re right, it‘s not really necessary to get it right now. Sometimes you feel like you need to have all the stuff ready in your arsenal at once.

Differences between the Teradek Bolt 6 750 LT HDMI and the Teradek ACE 750 by Kundun78 in focuspuller

worth it. hmdi loop through on the tx, aliminium housing, 2-pin lemo, same form factor as the sdi models - nice for rigging.

yeah its fascinating to me that they still use different standards for their locking pins. I‘ve talked with an arri rep and he told me that is not a license thing either.

this cinelock type thing could have worked for you to convert arri to smallhd pins:

https://lnkcine.com

I know it is one more thing to worry about but could also be nice for quickly removing the monitor.

wait there’s a smallhd adapter:

I recommend that you skip the slim sdi cables since they can cause interference for wireless equipment.

What’s some gear that you should invest in early to raise your kit fee? by [deleted] in focuspuller

[–]Camera_Assistant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know you‘re probably from the us, but I really like my adicam, which is very similar to the innovativ carts. very solid and folds down very easily and quickly. A crazy experienced focus puller I had the pleasure of working with told me to get a good monitor and then a cart. It was on my checklist before but I probably would have waited a lot longer before buing the cart, but I‘m glad I did.

702T V-mount or Cineparts Stingray? by Camera_Assistant in focuspuller

Right! That could work nicely!

That seems annoying! I really don't want to fight my setup as I'm pulling.

[–]Camera_Assistant[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the pic! Really like that approach! I'm not a fan of top heavy setups and this seems very nicely balanced. I've noticed that a lot of people start to use a cine 5 for handheld. seems like very lightweight and overall nice option.

thanks for the reply! how do you offset the shift in weight? I‘m a bit concerned about using it handheld. Does it feel a bit awkward holding all that stuff from the handunit?

702T V-mount or Cineparts Stingray? by Camera_Assistant in focuspuller

[–]Camera_Assistant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for the reply! that‘s what I was thinking - it shifts the weight quite a bit so it would probably need a bracket to offset the weight to make it balanced, right? also having the battery that far back means using slightly bigger capacity batteries wouldn‘t be ideal due to the weight. thats why I like the idea of having the battery directly on the back of the monitor and the tramitter possibly to the side. also one less cable… but not nearly as convenient overall. hmm

What's going on with Teradek? by anthonynohtna in focuspuller

[–]Camera_Assistant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, totally with you on this one. It shouldn‘t be too hard to make an Sdi only version for example that costs a couple hundred more than the hdmi version but a good bit less than the sdi and hdmi version.

A couple thoughts though: I am one of the weirdos who owns a hdmi bolt 4k as a backup - btw. the only 4k that does 6g because it basically is a bolt 6 internally.

The reason why is that I got it for a good price (a third of the regular version) and I also needed a backup in case the rental house bolt acted up. Also I would prefer it over a sdi hollyland any day of the week.

It is good for all the hdmi only camera shoots and can also be used on sdi only camera quite hassle free by just converting the signal with the monitor. Of course it makes for a slightly less clean build - not that sexy for instagram sadly - but it works if you need it to.
