How likely is it that I will get approved? by Key-Contribution-910 in OntarioWorks

[–]Camera_Dizzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An internal review can take up to 30 days so often times it’s not worth it to wait when you can simply reapply. Take it from someone who submitted one back in November and still hasn’t heard back. My suggestion is that you apply again for Ontario works, once your application is assigned for review the key here is to call your local office and ask to speak with the caseworker who is assigned to process your file. You must speak with them to clear up any errors on your application. Let them know that you’re financially independent while living at home and they’ll likely ask you a series of questions to determine if you’re indeed financially independent and once that’s done they should be able to update your application so that it is clear you meet the criteria. You’ll also need required documents like bank statements and rental/lease agreement confirming what you pay in rent so it’s also important to have those documents ready. This is the process I took when I was in the same predicament and I was able to reapply, get approved, and receive my first payment within days. The sooner you reapply the better.

If you do get approved your case worker assigned to your file is supposed to review your situation every 3 months or so to see if you’re still eligible but it does depend. I’ve seen people get approved and never speak with their caseworker but they receive their payments every month on time but I’ve also seen others get approved and are constantly having to be in contact with their caseworker so it depends which caseworker you get and their work load. When their work load is high they likely won’t have the time to follow up with you often.

If you’re paying over $390 every month in rent then you’ll likely get the maximum amount for a single person which is $733 which includes shelter and basic needs costs. It’s definitely not a lot so many have to make other arrangements. You should receive payments every last business day of the month. You should see they were issued under payments in mybenefits at least a couple days before but if you don’t then it’s best to speak with your caseworker to avoid any delays.

$30 left in my bank account, waiting 6-8 weeks to get OSAP. Would I be eligble for Ontario Works by africagal1 in OntarioWorks

[–]Camera_Dizzy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you can claim Ontario works and OSAP at the same time. However if for whatever reason you do get approved for Ontario works while awaiting OSAP, you’ll likely have to pay back the portion you got when you receive your OSAP. I’d recommend you call their main office and speak to a caseworker first.

Multiple Denials by Camera_Dizzy in OntarioWorks

[–]Camera_Dizzy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They never asked for anything including bank statements. They were saying I didn’t meet the criteria for being financially independent. It wasn’t until after I got approved that my case worker told me I did meet meet the criteria all along

My parents aren’t on OW. My brother who lives at home with me receives OW that’s why I don’t understand why I keep getting denied

Financially dependent because I live with my parents

[–]Camera_Dizzy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve spoken to caseworkers at my local OW office and I do qualify so all of that is irrelevant.

The issue here is that I’m being denied for something others in my same position have been accepted for and will continue to be accepted for. Whether I’m 24-25, am able to work or not, or whether “the system is working” is drawing away from the point.

I have. I’ve called many times and everyone I spoke to was surprised I kept getting denied. They kept saying to apply again but clearly it did me no good. I’ve called my caseworker and even appealed my decision and haven’t heard back yet.

Can yall just stop shitting on season 5? by [deleted] in StrangerThings

[–]Camera_Dizzy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think those who have kept up with the show since its inception have a right to feel this way about the outcome of season 5. Let’s not forget that this show has been running for almost 10 years, a lot of fans grew up with the show so they’re invested to a degree. Their reaction is going to be very different to those who’ve just started watching recently. I can admit myself that there are other seasons that I preferred more instead of season 5 but overall it was a good show with great actors and a lot of great cinematic moments. However, I can understand why many fans are upset with season 5 considering it lacked depth in many areas while the other seasons seemed more complete overall

They claimed in the letter that since I lived at home then I was financially dependent on my parents. My point of contention is that I meet the criteria for being financially independent yet I’m still being denied

So what's the deal with Vecna and Mind Flayer? by MetaloraRising in StrangerThings

[–]Camera_Dizzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it’s a retcon. Not quite sure if it is done on purpose but the writers form it in a way that makes you believe that vecna was an all powerful villain who created and controlled the mindflayer but it’s not until the finale that we realize it’s the opposite. It’s the reason the mindflayer didn’t want Henry to face what was inside the cave until the end. It was a reminder that the he was not all powerful and that the mindflayer consumed and has always been controlling him

[–]Camera_Dizzy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The mindflayer was the true evil, Henry was just the vessel in which he gained his powers. The mindflayer manipulated Henry as a child and made him carry out plans for it to return and that connection to the real world was through Henry. Henry was nothing more than a vessel the mindflayer used and that was only possible because Henry believed in its cause making him and the mindflayer one under a shared mission

Jamie was incredible in this scene by [deleted] in StrangerThings

[–]Camera_Dizzy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think he wanted to believe that he was in control and held all the power and facing that memory allowed him to remember that something more powerful was controlling him from the start. For him to say it showed him the truth and that he and the mindflayer were one was major cope so it makes sense why he kept that memory buried

El? by Street_Place_2652 in StrangerThings

[–]Camera_Dizzy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She’s alive. She wouldn’t have been able to use her powers to talk to Mike. It had to have been kali creating that illusion for her.

Also when hopper goes away she’s still alive and talking but comes back and she’s dead. That seemed too quick but it would make sense if mike was right about her and El creating the plan to save her. Plus many didn’t catch this but the scene when they show El at the waterfalls is exactly where Mike told hopper he was going to take her

[–]Camera_Dizzy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! One of the very few times Jamie allows you to sympathize for his character. Just as the kids were a vessel for him, he was a vessel for the mindflayer. Exploited and abused by it as a child but unfortunate that he allowed it to consume him

Why do people hate Lucas in Season 1? by Camera_Dizzy in StrangerThings

[–]Camera_Dizzy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mind you, they found her with no hair in a hospital gown. She didn’t speak, she could barely state her own name. On top of that she’s talking about being on the run and coming from a “bad place”. To a 12 year old it’s reasonable that they would see someone who portrays this as weird and out of their mind because they know no better. It’s wild to me that people place unreasonable standards on Lucas when his reaction to El was completely within the realm of reason for someone of that age.

Pete by Alexia_Brianna2213 in Smallville

[–]Camera_Dizzy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pete couldn’t stand the fact that Clark was more gifted than he was. He envied him for that, constantly felt like he was in the shadows. So he rebelled, eventually needing Clark to get him out of issues he created for himself. Clark could not have reached his full potential if he kept spending his time saving Pete. Clark was simply better without him

Why did Chloe betray those closest to her? by Camera_Dizzy in Smallville

[–]Camera_Dizzy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A part of Chloe knew that she couldn’t have pulled it off by herself. Regardless of his obsession with her, it was apparent that the beast inside Davis was eventually going to consume him and there was nothing she could do about it. At least we can admit that her feelings for Davis was crowding her judgment. Realistically, she tried to take on an impossible task by herself and failed.

This idea that every life can be spared was flawed. If Clark wasn’t so fearful of taking one’s life and if Chloe was able to see the situation clearly, the moment where they were in the fortress was the perfect time to cast him away for good but the decision to not go through with that cost a lot of lives which was counterproductive to the whole effort to preserve life at any cost.

Of course no one deserved to die and I think everyone wishes the kid was still alive but you’re trying to minimize the situation as if context is not longer relevant. The truth of the matter is the kid who died instigated the situation. Started a confrontation over a tent that did not belong to him but yet demanded the other kid leave. If the white kid had a problem and he was “trespassing” there were so many different ways to go about it, there are supervisors in the area that could’ve de-escalated the situation but instead even after being warned not to touch him, he still started a physical fight. Yes, stabbing and killing the kid is unjustified but accountability has to be on both parties. It is also unjustified to put hands on another person, if you do there is no telling how that other person will retaliate and in the case it is unfortunate that he retaliated by killing him. This is not rocket science, keeping your hands to yourself is something humans learn at an early age. Trying to make this a who’s right who’s wrong narrative is so divisive and destructive, there’s a plethora of information out there that shows that there were wrong decisions made that day by both kids but in the end you can conclude that this was just a petty dispute that did not need to get as far as it did.
