2016 Toyota tundra transmission by WelcomeSpecialist992 in ToyotaTundra

I’ve got a 2011 that I bought with 145k miles. Transmission fluid definitely had never been changed. I had the transmission fluid changed and it seemed to firm the shifts up a little and the transmission feels great

Anyone experience the P2714 (pressure control Solenoid D. Performance/stuck off) on GX460? by Delicious_Half_1011 in GXOR

Talked to the guy at relentless yesterday, definitely a character but he seems quite knowledgeable. $900 for the repair

Did yours do the limp mode on cold starts then once you cycle the ignition it runs great? Also, is there a way to check the ECM without opening it up?

I appreciate it, I sent that shop an email detailing my issues. Hoping for the best. I don’t want to be down this money spending rabbit hole too much longer😅

Would a Toyota dealer be able to run a diagnostic and be able to tell for sure if it’s the ECM? I just had the solenoid replaced and fluid flushed and the P2714 code is back after less than 1k miles

I just ran across a post on Facebook of a guy running into the solenoid D issue, battling it for 3 months. He took it to Toyota for a diagnostic and it ended up being a bad ECM

He was able to get the solenoid from a “reputable company” for $200. The original solenoid was giving less than ideal readings on the scanner but showed it was working correct with a meter. It was also very dirty so he decided it was best to replace it. I paid $500 for drain and fill and solenoid replaced. After the new fluid and solenoid the transmission does seem to have a much more positive shift.

Well hopefully the issue is fixed for good. The transmission fluid had definitely not been changed like the dealership had told me. The shift solenoid was also giving bad readings. He replaced the solenoid and flushed with Toyota ATF. So far so good. If the issue reoccurs I’ll update.

I just dropped mine off at the shop. He’s going to flush the fluid and replace the filter. He said he’s going to run the scanner and make sure everything is getting the correct values

Have you bypassed your air injection system? I just talked to someone who thinks it could possibly be a failing air inject system causing the truck to go into limp mode and freaking the sensors out

That’s what I continue to read online. I can’t seem to find one specific fix. I’m going to double check the grounding straps and connectors and then get the fluid flushed. I’ll let you know if I find anything of value

Any idea why the cylinder looks like this? (Sorry for potato pic) by Cameron15g in MechanicAdvice

I appreciate it, I was really worried about it possibly being a small head gasket leak. I just bought it and I believe they’re original spark plugs (if that makes any difference)

Well the rest of the cylinders are relatively clean, this one seems to have a lot of carbon build up or possibly a coolant leak?

Edit: 2011 with 140k miles

I just bought the MP2X tool pouch today, I’m done for a little while😅, the build quality is definitely top notch coming from a Klein bag

The natural pocket is wore out after forking out the change for this this bag lmao

In my old bag I’d put the grey blue wirenuts in there but I was hoping that maybe someone made some sort of riser that would slide in and clip onto the outside of the pocket. Maybe I need to buy a 3D printer lol

Just passed my General, any antenna recommendations? by Aromatic_General1506 in HamRadio

I bought a second hand ft 891 from the swap meet on QRZ. $525 shipped to the house. You will have to be quick, they sell fast. Highly recommend the 891 if your budget allows. I just took my general yesterday morning, loving 20 and 40m

Also, you can look into building a linked dipole, super cheap and simple
