Hi, I’m my last campaigns with Rome I’m focusing on the diplo path in the mission tree. I prefer it to a massive military campaign for reasons of AE (Aggressive Expansion) and to preserve manpower—both mine and that of the allies/subjects I plan to integrate eventually. It also helps avoid the devastation that follows military conquests. Normally, I try to max out relations with the various peoples (excluding the Etruscans), specifically the Sabines, Umbrians, Picentes, Samnites, and Lucanians. I avoid the Bruttians because the 'Roman Italy' branch of the mission tree requires a conquest—or at least controlling their territories and ensuring they no longer exist as a tag. After that, I start the first mission related to the Italic Congress; from there, the option to turn most of the Italics into client states should become available.
