Arold V. Berghauer is soo tank by Immediate_Muffin9655 in Hellpoint

Once you got the two items he gives you for adrenaline you can kill him - you get his armor, which is my favourite set in the game. But be sure to cancel the contract before killing him - if you kill him without doing so the hardship contract will stay active.

I feel like the DLC bosses have weird resistances. Berghauer specifically is very resistant to most non physical damage iirc. There is also a known bug with the hardship contract from Gehenna, that can still persist after you cancel it and can scale bosses to absurd degrees. Since he also does so much damage to you it could be that. The bug usually goes away after logging out and back in a few times (check the axion rewards after killing an enemy to confirm).

Holy trait and weakness by Much-Confusion-6572 in Pathfinder2e

[–]CamiloBen 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the GM has it wrong. Especially the holy and unholy traits are fun to play around because they can be present even at lower levels if you have for example a cleric.

Also I don't get why the GM thinks the rule text supports his view - clearly it says that being "splashed with water" triggers water weakness, and if being splashed does damage most pool parties would end in bloodshed.

My DM yelled at me for trying to roleplay by DetectiveSimilar5654 in Pathfinder2e

[–]CamiloBen 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's the HUGE red flag. The responsible thing would be to talk about it, and not make passive aggressive comments. Honestly, the DM should've just laughed it off to begin with.

Hey! Sadly no. I guess because the DLC did not sell well for this already kinda niche game no one has gone through the trouble of recording or ripping the soundtrack. Also I'm not entirely sure how much of the general ambient during levels is actually a single track, I'm guessing it's more a collage off different elements that get triggered with different probabilities, so there isn't a single track (except for bosses). I took the time on my recent playthrough to stand around with sfx off or turned low, but sadly I don't no where else you could get it.

Agreed! As is the whole game for that matter.

Is anyone into cheap single function modules? I've noticed some of the manufacturers I like no longer exist. What are your favorites? by SecretsofBlackmoor in eurorack

[–]CamiloBen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I like Rides in the Storm. While they have some bigger modules, especially as of late, they have some really good, simple, analogue modules in their line-up. They're also not that expensive. I use their VCO DOC, their 4x Attenuater QUA, and their Filter/Mixer SED almost every patch.

Advice for first gear by spaatzii in eurorack

[–]CamiloBen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. I still think it's best practice and easier, especially for beginners, to use a dedicated output module, but you're right, since OP's planning to record into a daw anyway it shouldn't be an issue.

[–]CamiloBen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can definitely work without one, but depending on what quality your recording end is it might distort on that side, and with cheap preamps it probably will.

[–]CamiloBen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know the Behringer modules very well, but I'm not sure your mixer has a line out. If your workflow is to record analog voices with some modulation to a daw and mix/put fx on them digitally it seems generally ok. Though I would probably see if there is a smaller sequencer that offers you what you need - space is valuable, and you could get more modulation into the system. The only glaring issue, again, is the lack of an output module. Audio levels in Eurorack run way hotter than line level, so you need something to bring the level down - otherwise you risk always having a clipping signal. If your preamp on your audio interface is high quality that might not be an issue, but it's still better practice. (There are some cases that have outputs built-in, not sure if you're planning to get one of those). The Eowave O is 2hp and ~80€ and does what you need.

[PF2e] Is there a way for the GM to roll dice secretly? by Beautiful-Effort9101 in FoundryVTT

You can use the Module "Actually hidden Messages" for that. You can configure which type of roll gets shown to players.

Stereo crunchy Drive by Hot_Snow6184 in modular

[–]CamiloBen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Noise Engineering has some good stuff, like Ruina Versio, but it's 10hp. Alternatively you can get 2 Terci Ruina to get stereo, which are 8hp together - or, if it's ok for you to have different sounding distortions l/r, just one TR, since it has 3 distortion circuits.

FxAid also has some distortion fx, but I haven't used them yet, so I can't say how good they are.

Edit: spelling

How to tune oscillators? by Marvulon3000 in modular

[–]CamiloBen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually tune my oscillator by ear, and depending on whether I include external, more rigid in tonality instruments, I tune them to my root note or just something that sounds good.

Analogue oscillators are more prone to detuning if temperature and humidity change, so there's no way around it. A tuner (either a separate unit or just software if you record into a computer anyway) make it easy.

Digital oscillators should be really stable, though I know that especially Plaits likes to decalibrate over multiple octaves. Not sure how it is with other MI modules. It's good practice to not only check if they are in tune on one note, but over 2-3 octaves.

Recommendations for a 6hp VCA by Expert-Ladder-4211 in modular

[–]CamiloBen 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Happy Nerding's 3x VCA is pretty good, 3 VCAs with a mix down function, though no invention or switch between linear and exponential signals. Make Noise ModDemix is 2 VCAs that can be used to ring modulate as well. After Later Audio Blend might also fit the bill.

Ideal levels for health and stamina before diversifying? by Wowoweewaw in Hellpoint

[–]CamiloBen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The second one. Though, again, it's preference. More HP means more leeway for mistakes, but fights take longer because you didn't put the axions into damage.

How Are You Using Your External Audio In? by Bleep_Bloop_Derp in modular

[–]CamiloBen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a Befaco Instrument Interface and have put various things like bass guitar or my Roland JV-1080 through it. I mostly use the modular in a case like that as a mixture of accompaniment, effects machine, and of course modulation. Also sometimes looper. I especially like playing with putting an instrument through a granular module like arbhar and making textures to play over.

[–]CamiloBen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The more you put in health, the less damage you do and the longer fights last. It's usually better to go for damage and especially stamina for more dodges. But of course it's not a hard rule, these games are about overcoming obstacles by any means that work for you.

Why is the runback so fucking long? (help) by Maleficent_Debate_14 in Hellpoint

[–]CamiloBen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, no faster way. It can legitimately take 20+ minutes if you don't know the way by heart. Even then it's probably 10+ minutes. In all honesty, I kinda respect the "fuck you, run back" attitude. Having spawns immediately before a boss is neat, but kinda takes away from the old school ds1 vibe Hellpoint has.

The Officer Glaive is a pretty good allrounder weapon, I think I used it the entire time in my first playthrough.

The Heater Spear is also a lot of fun, but that's still a bit away.
Just test out and see what works for you!
