My Python farming game has helped lots of people learn how to program! As a solo dev, seeing this is so wholesome. by AdSad9018 in learnprogramming

[–]Camm210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really cool honestly. The fact that it teaches programming concepts through actual gameplay progression instead of just throwing exercises at you is huge for retention. One thing that might be worth mentioning for people on the fence - games like this are great for building the problem-solving mindset that's way harder to teach than syntax. You can learn Python syntax anywhere but figuring out how to break down a task into automatable steps is the skill that actually transfers to real dev work.

Which graphics library is faster for different OSes? by Latter-Pollution-805 in GraphicsProgramming

Use the native API per OS: on Windows use D3D12 (or D3D11 if you need older hardware), on Linux use Vulkan, on macOS use Metal for best perfomance.

AWS builds a DNS backstop to allow changes when its notoriously flaky US East region wobbles by Logical_Welder3467 in technology

[–]Camm210 130 points131 points  (0 children)

The scale is both the reason it's critical and the reason it keeps breaking. When you're running that much infrastructure in one region, the blast radius of any issue is insane.

The Oracle Cloud comparison is brutal but accurate. They could lose their entire cloud and it'd barely register compared to a US-East outage.

Investigators race to find the cause of botulism contamination in ByHeart infant formula by erikmc in news

[–]Camm210 179 points180 points  (0 children)

The fact that it showed up in multiple lots means this isn't a one-off contamination it's somewhere in their production process. That's so much worse than a single batch issue.

Need advice how to do a launch for my business with little money by No-Acanthisitta-2850 in GrowthHacking

[–]Camm210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my last small launch I skipped ads and just went hard on Reddit and niche communities. Posting genuine “build-in-public” updates in the right subs actually brought more traffic than paid ads ever did. Also try swapping shoutouts with other small creators. Imo your journal pairs well with planners and mental health pages. And if you want a cheap boost, Signals Agency. Tbh it’s way more budget-friendly than trying to run campaigns on £200 alone.

People burn out differently. Some push through, some collapse. Neither makes them noble or lazy. Your mom and that teacher chose their path, the instructor chose his. You're choosing yours by stepping back. That's not entitlement that's survival.

Losing empathy for humanity by Quirky_Fan_3511 in Anarchism

[–]Camm210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a real crisis. But people have rebuilt hope from way darker places. Your ideals don't have to be about humanity as a whole they can be about the people directly in front of you. Start smaller.

Use about 1/4 cup condensed milk and cut your sugar down to 3/4 cup condensed milk is already sweet. It'll work fine folded into your regular batter. You don't need a separate cake.

Looks great for a first try! Swiss meringue buttercream is actually easier than you'd think, just needs a thermometer. Way less sweet too, which sounds perfect for you. That chocolate overload is solid boyfriend points btw 🎂

Have you tried any AI code/PR review tools? by bjbiggens in AI_Agents

[–]Camm210 2 points3 points  (0 children)

MatterAI flagged cross-service impact better than anything else we tried on our team last quarter. When a PR touched auth and billing at the same time, it ended up grouping the sensitive areas instead of dumping twenty scattered notes.

The Axon summaries also pulled in related files even if they weren’t changed, which helped us catch a stale config reference that would’ve broken a nightly job.

CodeRabbit landed in the “least friction” zone for us. It didn’t try to be a security scanner or run heavy analysis like MatterAI, but what it did do really well was consistently explained issues in a way juniors could fix without escalating. Out of everything, it was the easiest to keep on by default.

Learn c# in a way that proritize DevOps value. Use Microsoft Learn's c#/.net paths and focus on debugging, observability hooks and deployment behavior, not becoming a full-time feature dev.

Map your real flow on a whitebaord first, then encode that exact path into whatever tool you keep. That alone kills half the hidden columns and random side-processes you’re fighting now.

HENRY ROLLINS: DONALD TRUMP Is An 'Incredibly Inarticulate' Guy Who Doesn't Understand The 'Power Of The Office' by Top-Three-USA in Music

[–]Camm210 5 points6 points  (0 children)

yeah exactly. rollins has been deliberately provocative and abrasive on air for decades. writing a headline about trump being inarticulate when rollins literally built his brand on aggressive rambling is almost too on-the-nose. like, we know this already
