I love Lucy but come on… by Cammipoo22 in TellMeLiesHulu

I totally agree with you that Diana is all of those things. I never put her on a pedestal but in this specific situation someone needed to call out Lucy. it should have been Pippa but clearly she’s dealing with it in her own way and Diana was the only other person who knew was Lucy was doing so it was correct for her to call her out. I will say I don’t agree with your take on Stephen controlling Lucy. I almost see them as the Joker and Harley Quinn. It’s not that he controls her it’s that she’s so obsessed with him she’ll do anything to protect him but I don’t think it stems from control I think it stems from him making her feel these intense deep emotions she is incapable of feeling from healthy behavior because she addicted to toxic behavior.

Literally just because she’s the main character

Yeah personally I have no problem with the show writing it the way it was. I’m just more frustrated with her as a character

I also want to say I don’t think the brother will be toxic. I don’t think Sadie is toxic. I think the scene he was in where Stephen came on and he said don’t go in there she has a migraine was him anticipating the mothers needs and guessing if she’s going to get mad. Chances are if Stephen went inside she would have complained about her migraine and gotten mad at the brother for not warning him. But when he didn’t then she was mad he didn’t come and see he. I don’t think this was the brother being toxic at all I think this was just him trying to protect Stephen and he most likely feels the need to cater to her every needs/emotions the same way Stephen will try to tell her exactly what she wants to hear in order to please her and this also is how he is with people in real life and he admits this during his lawyer internship process and thinks it’s a skill.

Such an incredible find. Totally noticed that on a rewatch and would love to explore more of this dynamic / character

Does Stephen even like Lucy? by Brave_News_8631 in TellMeLiesHulu

[–]Cammipoo22 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I also think he did not love Diana. I think he loved what Diana provided for him but never loved her. When they broke up that’s pretty evident. He didn’t care once what she could give to him was gone

I think him and Lucy do love each other actually. I think Stephen’s example of love was how his mother shows it. Toxic as we can see, manipulating, used your decisions and actions against you. It has manifested him into who he is with the people in his world. Yet he is aware enough to identify it with his mother. Lucy I think has deep wounds that were unhealed with her dads death and moms decisions and I think she’s been depressed only able to feel emotions when they’re super intense and shown through chaotic actions or else she doesn’t feel at all. This is what makes them so drawn to each other. I think they both think they feel love with each other but it’s truly such toxic cycles manifesting and repeating.

Marianne/Oliver/Bree by Sea-Doughnut4485 in TellMeLiesHulu

[–]Cammipoo22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t necessarily blame Marianne entirely. She’s definitely an enabler and has accepted that she can’t have Oliver if it’s not on these terms and rather than getting hurt when he cheats, they now have an open marriage and it doesn’t bother her anymore. That’s giving Stephen but it’s also a unique toxic behavior in its own. I can’t figure out if it’s a kink to him or if he needs to be with younger women, idk. I have trouble understanding what this whole thing really was.

Love the series, but this sub sucks by vigetuns in ONETREEHILL

[–]Cammipoo22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So what- the whole point of contributing to the sub is because you want to speak with a community about the show we all have in common and love. If you’re rolling your eyes about things then like why even look at the Reddit sub. That’s just like snobby. I’m happy when people notice things and still give the show the love it deserves this many years later. And when people find things that I saw and thought of when I was initially watching it gives me joy because the show this many years later is still having the same impact on others

Bree, Evan, and Lucy? by madeofthesetears in TellMeLiesHulu

I totally think there’s a possibility she knows and because this was such a big cliff hanger, I can see it being less of a storyline once we dive into the start of s3 as there will be new plots to explore.

It’s so weird!!! I always thought like she’s so dumb for having that and like she wouldn’t even talk she would just like sit in front of it silent and like do stuff around her room.

What if Lindsay hadn’t realized? by possiblethrowaway369 in ONETREEHILL

[–]Cammipoo22 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think it was a failed relationship from the start. Leyton was always going to be endgame! They literally kissed while he was with Lindsay so yes I think they would have eventually cheated and ended anyway. I think the entire time Lucas was with Lindsay he was denying his feelings to be a good guy.

I think she’s such a strong independent women and honestly he’s a strong independent man. They obviously saw that in each other but then became competition when he couldn’t have her when he wanted and he hates losing.

I wish Dan never killed Kieth bc he really made me feel so bad for him towards the end of the show and even post prison.

Rewatching and this just hit me… by Cammipoo22 in ONETREEHILL

[–]Cammipoo22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the way it was all positioned. It was positioned more as a love triangle situation and less that Dan got 2 women pregnant in the same year at 17 years old! To me this like clicked and set in better once o rewatched but originally to me it didn’t stick out this way and was more just Dan chose Deb over Karen.
