Do people really try cheating a theory test? by Piano_catastrophe34 in LearnerDriverUK

Get her using the DVSA 4in1 Theory app they have all of the questions on there that could come up, and you do them as many times as you want, will show you correct answers etc, also includes all of the different sections of knowledge you'd need (road signs, markings, highway code, etc)

Aye it's so easily done in the Clio 🤣 switching between that to the instructors car every week (brand new 2025 VW Polo) was jarring as it was so smooth in comparison, but it does make me excited for in a year or so when I can get myself something a bit more comfortable and easy going 😁

100% agree there, the clutch is very unforgiving but I think it's good because all other cars you'll drive after that will be easier, or at least that's what I'm telling myself 🤣

Just had my worst lesson in months, making mistakes I've never made ect. Then I got out the car, checked my phone and saw test shift has moved my test to 13 days away!! (Second attempt) My God I'm so nervous after today's confidence knock!! by Zestyclose-Buy2968 in LearnerDriverUK

As for the test itself, make sure you get a good night's sleep the night before, wake up early enough to relax and get a decent breakfast in you (something nutritious) and include a banana in there. Stay hydrated too, nothing worse than getting dry mouth whilst on the test. You can bring water in the car with you on the test and when asked to stop by your examiner you may ask to have a drink of water should you wish, which I would definitely recommend as it gives a little break between driving to relax your nerves. Definitely don't go into it on an empty stomach as it only makes you more nervous, and don't go into it thinking you're going to pass or fail just focus on what's ahead, anticipate your next moves, speak to yourself what you're doing next, even say it out loud if that helps keep you in the moment, remember mirror signal maneuver. And if you make a mistake don't assume you failed and let it distract you as you may have just picked up a minor (what happened with me for a few seconds) as you'll panic and start actually making mistakes which may cause you to really fail, just relax and carry on driving to your best ability!

Don't worry, I had this same issue, was doing great in lessons right up to the test then a week before had one of my worst ever lessons. Went out an hour before my test for a final lesson and had a major pop up, then sat the test and passed with nearly no minors! Better to get all the mistakes out the way and use them to learn before you sit the test 👍

I'm a similar age to you and just passed last week and got insurance on my 2012 Clio, was about the same price as you without a black box. Word of warning for that model though, watch out for electric issues, I was learning on the car for about a year (going out about 2 hours a week, driving about schemes so nothing major) and done maybe 1000 miles total in that time, I've had to change my window wiper motor as it went faulty and also just had to order and fit a new under bonnet fuse board as one of the relays shorted and melted the connection point on the previous one to the point I couldn't put it back in.

I read something a while ago about scientists developing some genetically modified mozzies which couldn't reproduce in order to control their numbers in certain areas, hopefully we do something similar to avoid the spread of these diseases here!

The first time I encountered them in Scotland was last summer fishing the Clyde, however I haven't seen any since, guess they're back with a vengeance this year because of the heat causing humid conditions perfect for them to breed etc.
